They would lose with Romney than win with Gingrich. I was reading Romney’s reaction to the “good” economic news. They seem to take the administration’s point that things are looking up. Maybe they DON”T want to win because they fear that things might collapse next year, after they have been in office for six months or so, and they will get the blame. Maybe they are looking forward to 2016, when things are so bad that anything they do will be viewed as positive.

Yes, that's a good point. Romney is the quintessential RINO, almost even more so than McCain, and I think they see him as the validation of their position. He's certain to lose if he gets nominated, but maybe they just want to go down with their ship - because letting Gingrich get nominated and seeing him win would mean the ultimate rejection of RINOism.
