[Reuters] Bush says economy sound

(Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush said on Friday that the U.S. economy was on solid footing despite a weak employment report, and gave no hint of what his administration may have in store to bolster growth.

His comments came hours after a government report showed U.S. job growth in December was the weakest in more than four years, while the unemployment rate climbed to 5 percent.

The White House noted the employment report showed continued job growth, and said the unemployment rate was still low by historic standards.

If it was, Obama certainly kicked it in the knees. Sure a lot of “market” participants were eventually to make out like bandits, but this time the Dow never reflected in things more essential to the country’s health, like employment and homeowner solvency.

Because this is an old economy buyer, naturally.

Time flies but Dubya’s incompetence and his sad excuse of a Presidency are still fresh in the mind.

I don’t mind saying I think he was one of the best presidents we ever had. Hopefully the democrats republicans are same meme will be crushed under the weight of empiricism.

My tag line provides one clue as to why I think this.

“I don’t mind saying I think he was one of the best presidents we ever had”

And that’s why his name is verboten on the GOP primary campaign trail and, even after nearly four years, the American public clearly despises him. Every facet of our country suffered under his reign of error and one has to be living in a fantasy world to think otherwise. I mean dear GOD how bad a GOP President does one have to be to enable the election of Odumbo??

Fooled me.

What, George Bush is front of a microphone? Being covered by Rueters?

Never have I seen a President disappear so quickly. I shudder to think what the take will be when he shows up at the convention.

I blame him for several things, but the top of the list would be getting Obama elected was the end result of his inadequacies.

He’s a good man, a people person but had too much of a liberal streak for the long term good of the country. That our choice was between him and Gore in 2000; is beyond comprehension. Those were heady times economically, so this is what we end up with politically.

Sorry you missed the last ten years. Bush’s economy was doing fine until the Dems took over Congress in 2006 based on opposition to the war and the “Bush lied” meme. They then took to trashing the economy and blamed it on W. Bush’s only sin in my eyes was not fighting back. It is the same as it ever was against Palin, Cheney, Newt, Thomas, Reagn, etc etc...character assisination with the assistance of the MSM. Just admit you believe everything you see on TV.

What made him such a bad president?

Was it his staunchly pro life stands, or his support for Israel? That is what bugs most Paultards, maybe you are of a like mind?

I can see you thought he spent "like a drunken sailor", but his deficits were lower than Reagan's and his spending was right in line with spending for the last 60 years. So was our national debt at 60% of GDP instead of Obama's 100%.

Was Reagan "spending like a drunken sailor"?

President Bush gave us 52 straight months of job gains during his term, a term that included a recession and 9/11, not to mention 5 hurricanes in 2005 (including Katrina). He did that while Repubs only had control of the Congress for half his term. The economy tanked when we abandoned the Repubs and let Pelosi and her running dog lackey's take back over.

Personally, I think "conservatives" like you that were stabbing GWB in the back, helping the Dems and the MSM at every turn, are the ones that gave us Odumbo.

Of course, what would I know?

Personally, I think this never-ending campaiging must stop. Can you imagine the damage to our country if George W. Bush is elected again?

What made him a bad president...was spending like a drunken sailor. he and the republican congress are to blame for ruining the republican/conservative brand. They had a chance to reign in entitlements and other spending programs.....He was a nice guy but he was a pitiful president
