A post on Facebook as well as a 42 cannon salute are among the ways the next heir to the Swedish throne will be welcomed into the world, with Crown Princess Victoria due to give birth in early March, the Royal Court announced on Thursday along with a detailed list of events planned to mark the occasion.
This birth will bring the royal family, and the country, together, Roger Lundgren, previous editor of Queen magazine and expert on the Swedish royal family, told The Local.
It is not publicly known where the baby will be delivered, although it has been speculated that the birth will be at Karolinska hospital in Stockholm, where Victoria herself was born.
The day after the birth, the Marshall of the Realm (Riksmarskalken) will announce the heirs birth to the world to a cannon salute of 42 shots, fired from Skeppesholmen in Stockholm.
The news will then be announced on the Royal Court website, kungahuset.se, as well as the royal familys official Facebook page, which has been a recent development in the familys push to embrace social media.
Launched in November, the page has almost 11,000 subscribers so far.
Ive been nagging the family for four years to get this Facebook page, and I am glad its going to be put to good use. The family has embraced the concept, and the public reaction has been fantastic, said Lundgren.
Now Im working on convincing them to use Twitter but that may take some time.
The King will deliver news of the babys name and titles the next day at a Cabinet Council, or if the birth is on a Saturday, on the following Monday.

well, I like the cannon...
Yeah, look at the great patina on that cannon.
Not actually in real time,,,but it does make for a good U-Tube co,,ercial..lesson here? Know in your heart the Word of the Lord!
Sweden is the rape capital of the EU. Muslim thugs rule the streets of Malmo and parts of Stockholm. But hey, the ugly Princess is preggers. Yeh!
I don't read Swedish rank, but it's got to be an E-1 or an O-1, because all the E-8s are somewhere safe. ;)

That’s called Verdi Gris, in case you missed the home remodeling era.
I think that the whole concept of "Royalty" is revolting....
...but this Victoria lady certainly isn't, at least in her looks:
Is she a supermodel? No. But ugly? Certainly not!
Princess marries her fitness trainer.
Not my monarch... At least she can go back to the 1800s.
Hell, who knows where our current monarch was born, when, or if he even HAS a birth certificate.
Sure wish I lived in a Republic.

And her father is retarded. (Ok harsh again. He's just intellectually challenged)
And this changes my world, the USA, the ability to halt the destructive march of all external and internally permitted invaders and traitors....
Nopes.... I do not care a butt leak from a ticks a**
the lady next door is expecting, she is nice, still working, and she is to continue to work, along side her husband.... struggling to make a life for their child... a future....
This person is a Princess...................
shrugs.... so this person got pregnant... who the hell cares.

Damn you sound so negative it’s beyond sad. You sound like a disgusting, jealous person. Get over it.
The soldier in the picture is Danish, not a Swede, and the picture is of a Danish cannon being fired. His insignia marks him as a Konstabel or Private - so OR-1 (E-1 equivalent) - of the Danske Artilleriregiment (Danish Artillery Regiment in the unlikely event you couldn’t decipher it!).
I guess whoever selected the image thought nobody would analyse it any detail, but it really doesn’t belong in an article about Sweden.
the ugly Princess is preggers.
Ugly? Really? Perhaps your a woman and don’t understand beauty.
Ok....ignore my post. I read more and you were being sarcastic somewhat. I agree with your statement about European Royal families being very useless but not about her looks.
Further - it is one of the 18th century 12 pounder cannons at Kronborg Castle, that are used to fire salutes on formal occasions.
