Nearly 14 years ago in an appearance on “The Charlie Rose Show,” former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich revealed that he had sought advice from Pennsylvania State University coach Joe Paterno while at the helm of the U.S. House of Representatives.
“I’ve talked to Joe Paterno at Penn State a couple of times and said, ‘Alright, I’m not getting this thing done right. What would you change?’ He gave me very good advice about how he coaches and how he brings along his assistant coaches and how he deals with the players. He said, ‘First of all, you’ve got to be clear in your own mind,’ and that’s one of the reasons for writing the book.”
The book he was promoting at the time was “Lessons Learned the Hard Way,” which came just months before he resigned from the speakership after the November 1998 midterms.

And this has what to do with Newt today? Sheesh, in my lifetime I have probably talked to and/or associated with people who turned out bad. I’m suppose to know the future of that person’s behavior?
Funnier that they would attempt to smear Gingrich by saying he talked to Paterno.

It’s a sign of a good leader to ask for advice on projects. You get an outside eye to see big picture issues.
Some of the back benchers like Scarborough whined they didn’t have a say with Gingrich. But you know from Scars that that wine was more about Scars not getting his RINO way.

Paterno was a loud voice at the RNC Reagan Convention...where he said, “some of the media criticizing Reagan, couldn’t carry his shoes”

Exactly. What is the point of this? So Newt is foolish because he could not predict what was going to happen to Joe Pa 13 years in the future? Sandusky did not retire until 1999. The incident that caused all the uproar about a coverup happened in 2002. So Newt was supposed to presciently know all of this? Even though it never hit anywhere in the mainstream consciousness until the 2009 Grand Jury, I think.

Stopped watching TV, listening to any radio or reading NRO, Michelle Malkin, Dick Morris etc. This includes RUSH and esp FOX.
Been a bit shakey, but getting all the news I need from FR.
Bottom line, I think I’m going to be better off not following the day by day, hour by hour BS that they tabloids are sending to us.
The Ann Coulter column today takes the cake. REad an excerpt from an earlier post here. The woman is off her rocker.
Seriously! Unless Newt went for advice on how to best ignore pesky child rapists this is a pretty pointless article
