Gov. Bob McDonnell and Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli both will be speaking at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference next month— a gathering that often provides a stage for presidential hopefuls. Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli (AP Photo/Richmond Times-Dispatch, Bob Brown)

Cuccinelli will be getting the “Defender of the Constitution Award” on Feb. 9. McDonnell will be speaking Feb. 10.

Former governor James Gilmore (R) will be speaking on a panel about whether the Arab Spring is good or bad for the United States.

McDonnell and Cuccinelli have been to the event before.

McDonnell and Cuccinelli

These 2 guys made sure that Rick Perry and Newt were not on the Virginia primary ballot so very disturbing to people who believe in liberties would take away voters rights. ???

Not true. The Virginia Democrat Party did that in the 1990’s when they passed the bill to force a high threshold of signatures on petitions, 10,000, to qualify.

We need to lower that threshold to be fair but all Republican Presidential candidates were notified multiple times of petition signatures required.

McDonnell and Cuccinelli could not over-ride Virginia law on their own.

If you can’t get 10,000 signatures out of a state of 12 million or so than you don’t deserve to be on the ballot. The big thing is that McDonald endorsed Romney for the nomination and now is speaking at CPAC? That is more disturbing then anything else. He did it during the SC primary so it had nothing to do with picking between paul and romney. Plus just because someone is not on the ballot doesn’t mean that he can’t endorse someone else anyway.

I would love to have seen Gov. McDonnell in the race for the WH. He has a 65% approval rating and is a proven leader and conservative. He has a Reaganesque model for sucess that could be implemented nationally. He would wipe the floor with Romney and then Obuggery. He could bring all the factions in the GOP together.

Exactly and he was doing it I believe to please the party. This is the only way I can explain it. His governing style is the exact opposite of Romney and unlike Romney he has been very sucessful in governing VA both fiscally and socially. He would kill Romney on those truths alone and he is charismatic to boot.

Cuccinelli filed an injunction to keep those names off of the ballot. Blame on the democrats, very convenient for the Attorney General who is supporting the establishmnet, Romney. It appears to be influence peddling to one candidate. Imo.

“Cuccinelli filed an injunction to keep those names off of the ballot.”

That’s not true. He tried to get the law changed by calling an emergency session of the legislature and got smacked down. The culprit here is the Lt. Gov Bill Bolling whom we will deal with in 2013 when he runs for Gov. Cuccinelli will eat him alive.

He gave lip service to changing the law and quickly backed off.

Seems like political games. He would not support the names being on the ballot. It was an injustice to the voters of Virginia regardless.

He got smacked and we are going to smack the RINOs down. We are going to hold our noses and vote for Roach Paul if the write-in legislation fails.

I have suggested a No Vote but you’re right the most effective thing would be for an unusually large vote if not an outright victory for RP. I’ve heard there that write in votes will not be allowed. I’m so glad I’m not in the position of having to vote for RP to stop MR, I have had to hold my nose and vote many times and it really has to be hard when there are good and viable candidates excluded from the ballot. Just politicians making your choices for you.

Dear Governor McDonnell:

As a Virginian, I supported you wholeheartedly and I thought you were doing an excellent job. Going on the stump for Romney and, according to Mark Levin, supporting Romneycare changed all that.

I wouldn’t bother to listen to you if you were speaking across the street from me.

You are missing the entire issue.

The people got the shaft.

Very disappointing they could not had taken the fight on.

Yes, he backs Romney (says a lot-establishment power-no wonder we cannot break a resistance for the people)

I was very disturbed that Newt and the others were not on the ballot in Virginia. But I do like Ken C. a lot. I would vote that guy for President with a big smile, at least what I know about him right now.

I like both men but it threw me back when they both came out for Romney and the AG didn't fight harder for the voters to be able to vote. It was heartbreaking to see them fall in line for the establishment in supporting a guy that has no idea what conservatism is. Don't know, things look bad we are going to be stuck with a liberal pretending to be a conservative.

I’ve never been that happy with McDonnell but I didn’t know that he supports Romney care. I would never vote for that guy. I didn’t the first time around.Deeds had a better stronger belief on guns so I voted for him. I voted for the other Repubs that day, but not BM.
