For Romney and Paul, a strategic alliance between establishment and outsider
...........................But Mitt Romney and Ron Paul havent laid a hand on each other.
They never do.
-SNIP-
Romneys aides are quietly in touch with Ron Paul, according to a Republican adviser who is in contact with the Romney campaign and spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss its internal thinking.
Infiltrating the party
Yet the insurgents are executing a concerted strategy to infiltrate the Republican Party. Five Paul supporters, for instance, sit on the state GOPs central committee in Iowa, where their candidate finished a strong third in the Jan. 3 caucuses. A common refrain is to cover your tattoos and cut your hair, said Pauls campaign manager, Jesse Benton, who often tells coordinators to dress for business, because we mean business.
-SNIP-
And at Rand Pauls suggestion, Olson joined his fathers presidential campaign this year, basically to do what he did for Rand: help bring the Paul constituency into the Republican coalition without threatening the party. Its probably no small coincidence that the partnership helps Rands burgeoning political career, too.
You can dress in black and stand on the hill and smash the state and influence nobody, or you can realize the dynamics and the environment and get involved in the most pragmatic way to win minds and win votes and influence change, said Benton, the campaign manager. Thats what were trying to do.

It seems that the Romney/Paul ties extend to family members, and it looks like an effort to thwart the Tea Party.

If this is true Ron Paul is a huge phoney in my eyes. I may not have agreed with Ron Paul on everything but at least I thought he sincere.
I’m going to fight for and support Gingrich, support the good ones for congress and senate.
After this election I am ready for a new party. I am done with the GOP. DONE!

I started thinking Santorum was the only truely sane candidate. Now I’m pretty sure he’s the only decent one.

I will not vote for another Republican unless they have a proven Tea Party connection and ideology. The Massachusetts liberal and that nutcase Paul have proven to me that the GOP is not conservative and is as much of a danger to the United States as the Democrat Party.

The article merely mentions Paul and Romney being friends and that Paul wants fiscal responsibility in the GOP message.
As for the meat of the article, it simply describes how the Paul got people into local elections and helped to lay the foundation for activist smaller govt supporters.
Conservatives need to infiltrate the GOP and change it. That simple.

Don’t get too carried away with this crap; the WAPO is not our friend, nor is it an organ of truth.
What they’re trying to do is poison the effort to get conservatives to vote for Paul in Virginia, where he is the only “not Romney” on the ballot.
Do not take the bait Virginians; this is just more of the same excrement that they always feed you.

Dont get too carried away with this crap. How about some specifics re: untruths or inaccuries.
I have, along with others, noticed that Paul hasn't "laid a hand on Mitt.
It is my opinion that Mitt knows he can't count on Tea Party votes, so he is looking to Paul to deliver the PaulBot votes to him.YMMV

Santorum wrote legislation increasing min wageSantorum also wasnt as reflexively anti-union as some Republicans, perhaps because he waged his first House campaign in 1990 in a Democratic-leaning, working-class congressional district in the Pittsburgh area. In 1993, Santorum was one of 17 House Republicans who sided with most Democrats in backing a Clinton administration bill to protect striking employees from being permanently replaced by their employees. Santorums Senate service shows a clear track record of supporting the Davis-Bacon Act, the federal law that requires government contractors to pay workers the local prevailing wage and a perennial target for elimination by the business community and anti-union Tea Party activists. Davis-Bacon In 1996, Santorum voted in effect for an amendment by former Massachusetts Democratic Senator Edward M. Kennedy that said the 1931 law shouldnt be repealed. In 1999, the Senate accepted a Santorum amendment that said it should consider reform of Davis-Bacon rather than repeal. Later that year, Santorum was one of 15 Senate Republicans who sided with Democrats in rejecting an amendment that would have limited the application of Davis-Bacon in federal disaster areas. He has a mixed record on federal minimum-wage laws, casting votes for increases and at other times against them. A pro-Santorum publication put out by the Pennsylvania Republican Party in 2006 noted 50 Things You May Not Know About Rick Santorum. Ranked at No. 23: Santorum wrote legislation that would increase the national minimum wage. Read more on Newsmax.com: Santorum Pro-Labor Votes, Earmarks Ripe for Attacks

I don’t know for sure what you may be saying with your reply. However, Ron Paul is NOT Tea Party, NOT conservative and NOT GOP. Ron Paul is the crazy street corner crazy that normal people cross the street to avoid. Straw polls and on-line polls that have Paul cult nuts stuff the vote are worthless. Real patriotic Tea Party people do not accept that crazy man.
