Rick. it’s time to do the right thing for the party and that is to drop out and put your support behind Newt. We have to beat Twitt Romney and keep the white Obama from being the nominee for Republican president.

Ricky "SOPA" Santorum the collectivist big government statist.
"This whole idea of personal autonomy, well I don’t think most conservatives hold that point of view. Some do. They have this idea that people should be left alone, be able to do whatever they want to do, government should keep our taxes down and keep our regulations low, that we shouldn’t get involved in the bedroom, we shouldn’t get involved in cultural issues. You know, people should do whatever they want. Well, that is not how traditional conservatives view the world and I think most conservatives understand that individuals can’t go it alone." [source]

"What was my vision? I came to the uncomfortable realization that conservatives were not only reluctant to spend government dollars on the poor, they hadn’t even thought much about what might work better. I often describe my conservative colleagues during this time as simply ‘cheap liberals.’ My own economically modest personal background and my faith had taught me to care for those who are less fortunate, but I too had not yet given much thought to the proper role of government in this mission." –Rick Santorum, p. IX It Takes a Family: Conservatism and the Common Good (2005)

"I suspect some will dismiss my ideas as just an extended version of ‘compassionate conservatism.’ Some will reject what I have said as a kind of ‘Big Government Conservatism.’ Some will say that what I’ve tried to argue isn’t conservatism at all. But I believe what I’ve been presenting is the genuine conservatism our Founders envisioned. One that fosters the opportunity for all Americans to live as we are called to live, in selfless families that contribute to the general welfare, the common good." –Rick Santorum, p. 421 It Takes a Family: Conservatism and the Common Good (2005)

"If you're a conservative, there really is only one place to go right now. I would even argue farther than that. If you're a Republican, if you're a Republican in the broadest sense, there is only one place to go right now and that's Mitt Romney." –Rick Santorum, 02/1/2008 [source]
Check out his brochure, 50 Things You Didn't Know About Rick Santorum, where he proudly defends food stamps, increasing minimum wage, stem cell harvesting, college tuition subsidies, bloated school funding, working with Bono to fight world poverty, etc.

Also see his disturbing voting record for more doozies.

>> Signaling he was unwilling to exit the race and help either rival rise, Santorum said he would push on all the way to the Republican convention, if necessary.... during a speech that his advisers cast as a major address, but offered little new.

Small-minded loser. But then we already knew that.

"I'm in this race until the very end," he said to boisterous cheers during a speech that his advisers cast as a major address, but offered little new. "I'm going to stay in this until the very end."

Someone should tell him to get a real job.

I guess he is staying in so he can make sure Mitt gets the nod and the gives him the VP slot as a reward to making sure a Conservative doesn't get the nomination.

Actually, I can’t imagine Santorum sharpening anything.
I LOVE his devotion to pro-life causes, and his family, however he just isn’t presidential material.

Where was he many months ago! You can’t decide to take the Conservative side so late in the game and make a difference!

Santorum, looking to find footing ahead of Saturday's caucuses in Nevada and Tuesday's primary in Colorado, told supporters in a freshly polished campaign speech that Republicans would guarantee President Barack Obama a second term if Romney or Gingrich were to win the nomination. Signaling he was unwilling to exit the race and help either rival rise, Santorum said he would push on all the way to the Republican convention, if necessary.

Rick Santorum is an A-class asshole and spiteful, petty minded prick. Just as he supported Arlen Spector the RINO and killed off Pat Toomey's chances in the PA primary in 2004, now he is stubbornly & spitefully bound & determined to deny the nomination to Gingrich while ensuring victory for Romney. Personally I would not be surprised if Santorum is working clandestinely for Romney by being offered some cabinet post if Romney wins..... which is as unlikely as a snowball in hell.

Santorum is a bitter, spiteful, small-minded prick!

If Santorum gets anything above 5% in any state west of the Rockies I'll fall out of my chair.

Why he's wasting time and energy out here is beyond anything I learned in politics over the last 40 years, and from it's study further back.

Ridiculous hubris. Or, payola.

Just a thought. If Santorum stays in the whole way through the (mostly) proportional delegate states, we could have a brokered convention. For a political junkie, that is a dream come true. Is there some other candidate they could agree on who would be better than Newt?
