The first year, you could buy insurance without Prescription Drug Coverage. The second year, it too was forced on us, adding another $4,000 to the yearly premium. They also do not allow the sale of very high deductible policies, which could be supplemented with Health Savings Accounts. They sell what THEY call high deductible policies, but the deductible level is more like $2500, which isn't that high, and the premium is as high as all the others.
The more governments, state or federal, have gotten involved in the business of insurance, the more things cost, and the more unnecessarily difficult they become.
