We went to the moon in less than 8 years, and we can now no longer build a single building in less than 10?
Sorry about the photo. I always go out of my way to prettify my posts but it doesn’t always pay off.
DIdnt it only take 1 year to build the Empire State bldg? Why do we allow Unions and Government to be Involved in ANYTHING?
You know... When I ask that question I get called an "anarchist". What people can't seem to grasp is that I have long since stopped seeing that label as a pejorative.
Here's my blind profile of the Team:
Architect- Harvard Professor who made his name "deconstructing negative space"; white guy / female principle partner
Lead Engineer-- we don't need no engineer (too many white guys) we'll farm out packages to multiple firms that will enable us to have diversity on the team; Indian, Asian, females of various colors)
GC-- well connected multi-national
City liasions-- environmental, archeological, cultural and subcultural; this is where the real power is (the tail wagging the dog) and this is where the black, hispanic and gay constituances get to play.
Somewhere, 6 layers deep are the Italian guys that are trying to build this thing and if they've learned one thing by now it's how to spell "CO".
Yabbut, it takes 9 years just to get the permits...
The good news is that the unions got paid already
Are there going to be public restrooms on site? I heard they had been left out of the design (with waterfalls, real smart).
Uhhh, 'cuz otherwise the media wouldn't have anything to write about??
Were there ever ANY threat of unions going away (and they ARE diminishing, albeit slowly), we'd begin seeing nostalgic media showpieces about the glorious heydays of American Organized Labor; soft-focused shots of labor memorabilia, and edgy bio sketches of yesteryear's big labor leaders all written to cast them in a heroic light.
Organized Labor was a good cure for an outbreak of bad management, but the prescription has long since expired, and has turned to a poison that is crippling the patient.
HIGH time to pitch all that remains into the trash.
Any more, union labor is little more than the on-call thug arm of the DNC; a cabal of domestic terrorists if ever there were one.
Here's an exercise in American History:
Compare and contrast the actions of the KKK terrorizing Southern blacks with the actions of coal mining union members terrorizing people who came to work the mines during various strikes. Detail the means by which Americans were taught that the KKK are horrendous criminals, but the unionists aren't. Name names.
EXTRA CREDIT: Explore the question, "Is the racial motivation of the KKK the only differentiating factor between them and union thuggery?"
NOTE TO PARENTS: The material you discover in your research will NOT be permitted to be taught at your local, union dominated public school. Students are, however, allowed to arm themselves with very thorny, uncomfortable questions if they feel up to the task of posing them in class.
What, is there about 10 men working up there building it?
