Mitt Romney's plastic and philosophically vapid campaign secured an easy victory in Florida on Tuesday night. Sunshine state GOP voters swallowed his "electability" argument whole, according to the exit polls.
It appears that country club Republicans have succeeded again in duping the GOP electorate into crowning a "centrist" Republican. Never mind that "centrist" Republicans rarely win the center. They usually lose the center while sapping the spirit of the party's conservative base.
Out of Bob Dole's and John McCain's tattered Big Tent steps another "reformed" RINO, Mitt Romney, who will receive, should he win the nomination, a similar thumping from the Democrats.
But let's say that he is "electable," for the sake of argument. Who cares? The purpose of politics in a republic is not simply to win but to win on sound principles. A party that pursues victory by scrapping or sidelining its platform will have no truth left with which to govern once it does.
If "electability" is the goal, why don't the politically correct plutocrats of the GOP just call for a one-party state? That way they could win every time.
The "electability" argument is bankrupt on both philosophical and practical grounds. It destroys the party's soul and guarantees defeat.
Even though Romney paid for this Florida win on his debit card -- outspending Newt by millions -- he still couldn't nail down the rank-and-file vote. Seven out of ten self-described conservatives didn't vote for him. This foreshadows the boredom and disgust that will keep conservatives home in the fall.

There was a pac established to allow it. That’s all that matters. No pac, no contributions.
What the !#!?* is he talking about?
I honestly don't take offense. But the "you expect me to do your legwork" is something I've seen here so many times.
I hope the information was useful.
The polls indicate Gingrich would have virtually no chance of beating Obama. Period. So what if he gets conservatives more excited? He would lose women in a landslide and has sky high negatives according to all polls.
The mouth on Mitt alone, will make his election impossible....

Former New Hampshire governor John Sununu, a senior Romney surrogate, tells National Review Online that Mitt Romneys comment to CNN Im not concerned about the very poor was unhelpful to the campaign. But he cautions critics to consider the context.
It was not the best choice of words, but the idea behind it is being misrepresented by others, says Sununu, a former White House chief of staff.
There was a context to that, saying, in essence, that we have a safety net for them, Sununu says. He was saying that we do not need to change policies for them. Same goes for the super-rich, who are fine. Its the middle class; theyre the ones we need to be aggressive in helping. Theyre the ones whove taken the brunt of the bad Obama policies of the past three years.
Sununu acknowledges, however, that Romney knows that he needs to be more careful, especially after his Florida win.
Its not what you want to have happened, but you at least hope that your friends out there will frame the proper context for you, so that people will understand what youve said, Sununu says. And anybody who wants to oppose him will try to feed it into their narrative.

So we upgrade from a liberal muslim messiah who bows to his muslim masters in the middle east, to a liberal self deluded god with a silver spoon who bows to his mormon masters in Salt Lake City. If that puts a tingle up anyone's leg, I suggest it's time they change their magic underwear.
A paid for election is the very definition of “a cheap and empty win.”
If buying votes is the key, Obama wins, as he has the dregs of the treasury to hand out money from.
Only a fool runs in a race they are not allowed to win.
You mean the same scary cabal that ran McCain? The group of rino's who supported McPain? And 'allowed' Palin on from out of nowhere to be potentially the "insider" in 2016 had McCain not been an idiot? That group?
Vast right wing conspiracy was funny when Hillary said it. When we say it, it sounds insane.
So true, and I imagine Jebbie will be the 2016 nominee, don't you? Our little voters never learn.
I’m surprised jackass Tyrell let this guy write..
Interesting.
Don't call me a RomneyBot, that's just stupid, wrong, and pretty rude, too. I can't stand Romney, but I'm not going to run around crying like a baby because he won Florida. This article was pure sour grapes from a writer that I have usually enjoyed reading.
I dislike Romney intensely and will vote for Ginrich, but I refuse to join Newt's pity party. He screwed up big time in Florida and no amount of blaming Romney or the voters in Florida will change that.
Gingrich better start getting back to his platform and leave his wounded ego backstage. If youre clapping, WHAT are you clapping for?
I hope by now you understand I wasn't clapping. I was being realistic. Stop whining, it doesn't win elections.

Good piece.
Bad idea. A "brokered" convention will be controlled, run and used by the establishment to install someone of their choosing, regardles of the party rank and file. Someone possibly even worse than Romney. You'll be wishing you had Gingrich after you see what a brokered convention will bring.
LOL
Let them try
I saw these degenerate sons of bitches and their creepy pulled back wives up close and personal on the day they voted to banish the FL delegation to crappy hotels (talk about petty) and cut the delegate count in half.
BLUE BLOODS AND COUNTRY CLUBBERS OUT!!!!
