Get OUT Santorum. Go home to your child and family. We want NEWT!
Before you jump on the Santorum bandwagon there are several issues you should be aware of..
Senators Propose Redundant Media Research Study
(Washington, D.C.) - Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) today criticized Senators Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.), Sam Brownback (R-Kan.), and Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) for reintroducing the Children and Media Research Advancement Act (CAMRA), which will set up a $90 million program to research what countless other studies have already documented the effects of television viewing and other media on children. CAGW named Sen. Lieberman Porker of the Month when he introduced the same legislation in August, 2004.
This proposal is just one expensive rerun, CAGW President Tom Schatz said. For decades this issue has been studied to death, always yielding the same results. Calling for yet another taxpayer-funded study belittles the ability of parents to use common sense in deciding what shows are appropriate for their children.
1. Santorum joined Sen Hillary Clinton, Sen Lieberman, Sam Brownback in introducing the CHILDREN AND MEDIA REASEARCH ADVANCEMENT ACT which allocated a 90 MILLION dollar program to research the effects that watching tv has on children. This was a call for ANOTHER taxpayer funded study the thinks the govt knows better than parents on what is appropriate for their children to view.

2. Santorum voted to raise the minimum wage and to have the govt be allowed to set wage regulations.
3. Santorum spent more than 1 billion on earmarks including..., Pennsylvania in 2005 received $483 million in earmarks for 872 projects, including $5.4 million for an igloo upgrade for an Army Depot and $5 million for a new visitor center at Gettysburg.

4. Santorum voted to raise the debt ceiling 8 times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rick. Love you man, but GET OUT.
Santorum has no chance to beat Romney, that’s just the way it is.
Santorum’s in it for a while. He’s in Colorado and visiting other states today preparing for their caucuses and primaries.
Santorum is vile. He has some reason to be “outraged” by this, but frankly he finds a way to be outraged by anything the other candidates say. He’s a bottom feeder who traffics in slime. He needs to drop.
I have to say I agree with Rick. It’s just not good form to tell another candidate to drop out. Much better to focus on beating out the others with your own policies.
If Santorum doesn’t like it when an opponent calls for him to drop out, he’s really going to hate his conference calls with his big money donors tomorrow...
There’s just something about Santorum that I can’t stand.....
I like Rick, he has many positives. But the way he closed out Florida tells me he is NOT ready to mount a serious campaign. So, even though I do not like for candidates to asks others to drop out, Newt has a point. Unless Rick shows more drive, demonstrates sacrifice and raises money to beat Romney, he will just be a spoiler.
If he is an establishment candidate, as many FReepers are saying, that would mean he is pulling votes from Mittens. If he is a real conservative, then he is pulling votes from Newt. If he is an alternative to Mitt or Newt, then he may be pulling votes from Paul. In any instance, he has done better than expected, and has the right to continue if he chooses.
This looks like a designed plan to me.
Ok Rick - then just keep staying in - just keep getting 15% of the vote - just keep taking votes away from Newt - just keep handing Mitt the victories. The Gallup poll nationally shows it’s between Newt and Mitt. Too bad Rick just doesn’t see the writing on the wall.
NR is really hopped up about the Gingrich robocalls.
Apparently, since Mass. was going broke under Romney, they had budget problems. To save money, the Medicare folks said it would be better to shut down Kosher kitchens, and instead order Kosher meals from outside sources. The seniors still get Kosher, just not from a local kitchen.
THe legislature passed a law funding the full kitchens, and Romney vetoed it because they had no money. THe legislature overrode his veto, and the kitchens remained. So in the end, nothing happened.
Some are upset that Gingrich has a robocall that says “Holocaust survivors, who for the first time, were forced to eat non-kosher, because Romney thought $5 was too much to pay for our grandparents to eat kosher.”
It’s got several good hot-buttons — Holocaust victims, Grandparents, “$5 meals”. On the other hand, it’s not true, and it’s another attack from the left.
Hopefully, just a campaign tactic, and if Gingrich is President, he won’t fail to veto legislation because it cuts expensive public programs in favor of cheaper private alternatives.
Santorum, drop out.
Get OUT Rick, and save some of your dignity to stay in the conservative field as a spokesman and defender
Spend more time with Bella, we read she hasnt got much longer by the odds
PS: This is not Newt speaking
"This whole idea of personal autonomy, well I dont think most conservatives hold that point of view. Some do. They have this idea that people should be left alone, be able to do whatever they want to do, government should keep our taxes down and keep our regulations low, that we shouldnt get involved in the bedroom, we shouldnt get involved in cultural issues. You know, people should do whatever they want. Well, that is not how traditional conservatives view the world and I think most conservatives understand that individuals cant go it alone." "What was my vision? I came to the uncomfortable realization that conservatives were not only reluctant to spend government dollars on the poor, they hadnt even thought much about what might work better. I often describe my conservative colleagues during this time as simply cheap liberals. My own economically modest personal background and my faith had taught me to care for those who are less fortunate, but I too had not yet given much thought to the proper role of government in this mission." Rick Santorum, p. IX It Takes a Family: Conservatism and the Common Good (2005)
"I suspect some will dismiss my ideas as just an extended version of compassionate conservatism. Some will reject what I have said as a kind of Big Government Conservatism. Some will say that what Ive tried to argue isnt conservatism at all. But I believe what Ive been presenting is the genuine conservatism our Founders envisioned. One that fosters the opportunity for all Americans to live as we are called to live, in selfless families that contribute to the general welfare, the common good." Rick Santorum, p. 421 It Takes a Family: Conservatism and the Common Good (2005)
"If you're a conservative, there really is only one place to go right now. I would even argue farther than that. If you're a Republican, if you're a Republican in the broadest sense, there is only one place to go right now and that's Mitt Romney." Rick Santorum, 02/1/2008 [source]
Rush’s scenario:
Santorum+Newt=more votes than Mittens but Newt is still short.
