It all happened last Wednesday. Prosecutors say Johnson, who was already on probation for aggravated assault, robbed two men in West Reading and was attempting to rob a third along a bike path in Cumru Township in Berks County. But the would-be victim was carrying a licensed firearm, and shot two of his attackers. Johnson was killed. A friend is now in the hospital.
Johnson's mother, Idella Hopkins George, said, "Do I believe he was justified in shooting my son? I would say no."
The family acknowledges Johnson's actions were wrong, but they question why a warning shot couldn't have been fired first.
Johnson's sister, Ashley Jones, said, "He's a kid. His actions-- I don't approve of his actions at all, but he didn't deserve to have his life taken."
In recent days a Facebook memorial page has been flooded with sometimes hateful posts -- referring to Johnson as a "thug" who died like the dog he was.

Of course, the first two targets of his racist bloodsport are absolutely worthless, no need to even acknowlege them, their injuries, or the racist terror they had to endure..
Let’s burn a candle for the dead savage racist thug instead.
Taxpayers should, by law, be able to see a complete itemized checklist of all the government benefits these thugs and their families get and the costs incurred by their crimes.
A senior citizen is much more likely to kill a bad guy because they know they can not beat him in a physical fight. The senior citizen was attacked and he defended himself. The good guy lived and the bad guy died.
It should also be noted that the bad guy was a serial offender. Do you think he would have let his victim live after attacking him? If the victim lived he could identify his attacker and send him away for a long time.
Beware of old men carrying weapons, as a rule they are kind, courteous and respectful and know how to kill you. They have probably been shooting for many many many years. They do not wish to be hurt or die. They will kill you.
Actually the mother is correct. He did not have to die.If he had not tried to rob the old man, he would still be alive, but, he made the choice to to take the property that others had earned with the sweat of their own brow.In my opinion, the world is a better place without him.
HAHAHA! Is that all you got? “A$$hole”? Why dollar signs? HAHAHA! I know enough about you from your nastiness both on the thread and to me personally. But Congratulations Fred! You’ve proved that you are a first class turd. The first one to prove how nasty this site has become. HAHAHA! Do you kick dogs too?
The kid made his own choices; at 16 you’re darn well old enough to realize the consequences of your actions and know what you’re getting yourself into by taking them. It’s no one’s fault but his own he ended up dead.
Because the illegitimacy rate for African-Americans is on the order of 70%.
When I took the class for my carry permit the instructor said we should NEVER fire a warning shot and never point the gun at anyone without shooting! Such behavior leaves you open to a charge of “brandishing a weapon” or it can lead to your having your weapon taken from you by the person you are trying to warn away. If you show it to him shoot him with it!

That is true, in a way.
His familiy could have prevented this.
All they had to do was raise him to be a decent, honest human being instead of a law breaking mad dog.
Yes.
Live like a thug, die like a thug. If I were the victim, I would be damned sure I kept a gun close because one of the thug’s friends or family might try to get some revenge.
RUSM???
If she was so sincere and good-hearted, she would have been apologizing for her son’s evil, not making excuses for it.

This woman is an Idiot.Firing “warning Shots”is Dangerous especially if your in the act of being assaulted by a thug who wants only one thing and that’s the Victim Seriously Injured or Dead.
Where are those warning shots going. The victim would have just as much chance of killing a passerby as he would be to hit a tree.
I was Trained to aim at your target if your Attacked and aim for center mass.Warning Shots are a No,No.
1. She never apologized for his actions. In fact, she condemned them. 2. She’s still in shock. Everyone processes things differently.
I have a lot of difficulty with the concept of probation for violent offenses, or offenses with the potential of violence, such as armed robbery. IMO, you are offering the offender the opportunity to continue to commit other crimes.
Defense attorneys don't care much for that point of view.
Do you think she might have also been processing some pain for the other people her brother mugged and beat - the ones who didn't have a gun to protect themselves?
I think I feel a song coming on.
Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd;
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don't care if I never get back.
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win, it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,
At the old ball game.
