In 1980 we were involved in a campaign like this and it was clear that we needed a conservative that was a long way from Jimmy Carter in order to win because you had to show the difference.
And I would argue, we tried a moderate in 1996 and we couldn’t show the difference.
We tried a moderate in 2008 and we couldn’t show the difference.
If we are going to beat Obama, he’s going to have a Billion dollars and almost all of it will be used negatively because he doesn’t have any posistive record to run on.
So he’s gone from yes-we-can to why-we-couldn’t as his theme. So we need to have someone that can show a sharp distinction.
ObamaCare and RomneyCare are about this far apart (shows about one inch.) you can’t make the difference.
Where we are as Conservatives is about this far apart. Obama will not be able to hide from the difference...

As much as I want to see Newt or Santorum take it to Romney and beat him and become the nominee...and I believe all that really needs to happen to make this a reality is for, right now, Santorum to see the handwriting on the wall (even though I believe his record is in fact more conservative than Newt’s - it’s just that he does not have that extra something...that pssazz in leadership to get people on fire) and throw in behind Newt now.

Anyhow, as much as I want that to happen and believe it can...I am not going to start taking my cues from, or believing a single thing that George Soros has to say about anything.

He and the organizations that he has created, and candidates like Obama that he is clearly behind, are the abject, straight-up enemy. Whatever reasons he has for saying this about Romney (when you know that Obama is his man)...they are not well meant or measured for the constitutional republic which he and his cronies detest.

So I will ignore Soros and still focus on getting our most conservative candidate nominated...the sooner the better.

Soros is hedging his bets, that is why he is funding Ron Paul.

Romney gets the Nom, it makes no difference to Soros’s game plan because Obama and Romney are the same. Newt gets the Nom and lo and behold you have Ron Paul run third party and ensure Obama gets re-elected.

Soros might very well support Romney this election if he determines that Romney has a better chance of advancing the socialist agenda than Obama. As it is now, everything Obama does is bottled up by Republicans in congress. However, the congress would have a much harder time saying “No” to a Republican president.
