Faced with a shortage of hired hands, Kansas ranchers and farmers are appealing to their states secretary of agriculture for a solution. And he says he has one: hiring illegal immigrants.
Its an idea thats unorthodox enough to turn heads but practical enough to justify a series of meetings with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security a meeting which Kansas Agriculture Secretary Dale Rodman told the Topeka Capital-Journal he has attended.
His goal is for the state government to organize a network of illegal immigrants and willing employers into a hiring network. No such arrangement, of course, can go forward without the federal governments approval, since Washington, D.C. is tasked with enforcing immigration laws.
I need a waiver, Rodman said. It would be good for Kansas agriculture.
As talks continue off-and-on in Washington, D.C., state lawmakers....

Yes. They want to transfer those costs.
After factoring in subsidies and government price controls I don't think it's so cheap anymore.
Yes, the true cost is hidden just like the government's unemployment figures.
Another "cost" that is left out of the equation by the illegal immigrant labor lovers is the crime they bring, they are most likely on food stamps, they use the emergency room as a free health clinic, high teen pregnancy, and on and on.
Not "cheap labor" after all but the farmers get to spread out those costs to the taxpayer instead of paying a real wage out of their own pockets to a lawful citizen.
It would be amusing watching the libs argue against this (you know, actually treating citizens the same as people that arent), if it was so pathetic. The current argument against is that were going to be taking food from the mouths of children.
