If only half of the Santorum supporters, reconsider and vote for Newt, that should be enough to help him win handily.

Be it Palin, Perry, Bachman, Cain, or whoever.... we have had our differences as a conservative family. NOW.... it is crunch time. It will be a travesty if a few loyal Santorum supporters grease the skids to a Romney nomination.

If the Santorum followers follow the lead of RS - ala the Arlen Specter situation - they’ll follow the establishment choice sadly.

Santorum hurt Romney in the last debate and is getting some seriously big Superpac money lately and a lot of the states are not “winner take all”—
I agree with Mark Levin that it's still early and Santorum IS the most consistent conservative.

I think he'll know if and when it is time to bail.

That could be debated. But, he did hurt RINO-Rom in the last Debate. I think his absence in FL right now, due to Bella’s health issues, is going to have some affect on the turn-out for him. The old “out of sight, out of mind” thing.

I think the whole thing will be decided in Tampa and it will be the end of Mitt.

Don’t forget the “undecided” Don’t need very many of either combined to take Florida.

Go Newt!

Life is a funny thing. He might not get a chance again. This is only the fourth out of fifty primaries. He did so well in the last debate; I would like to see him stay in. Newt did not do well the last two debates at all, and that’s what launched him to popularity in the first place. Frankly, I find it arrogant that Newt’s supporters’ way to win is to call on another candidate, a good candidate at that, to drop out. I say that as someone who supports Newt as a second choice.

If Romney loses the FL primary, the GOPe will ramp up its attacks on Newt. The voters will be called stupid - probably even some references to the Palm Beach chad punchers and the ones who claimed to have voted Buchanan in error - and the "Newt is unelectable" polls will take top billing on the front pages of newspapers and leading news stories.

Long story short, the GOPe and its DEM buddies are not going to go down easy; and once down, they will continue to lie and push for policies that benefit themselves at the expense of personal independence for the masses.

It may be the fourth out of 50 primaries, but Santorum will still be Santorum in primary 50. That is to say, not ready for prime time.

I think it shows impatience and insecurity. If Newt places second, he's clearly not a loser. I prefer that he take first, so as to discredit the media "opinion makers" and assorted party hacks; but those same hacks can get beat in the general, by their own perfidy.

Santorum doesn’t have to actually drop out of the race. His supporters in FL just need to vote for Newt Tuesday to keep Romney from taking all the votes and having the golden crown of inevitability bestowed upon him yet again by the GOP-e & the media. Romney will be hurt badly if he loses FL and that gives Rick (and Newt) a fighting chance past FL.

That's why the GOP convention will settle it.
Mitt will not get a majority of delegates and the ones at the convention who were sent there to vote for him can change their minds if the first ballots fail to pick a winner.

Unless the GOP RINO elite change the rules THEN it would be the end of the Republican Party for sure.

Judging by all the excuses they are giving, don’t expect those guys to do anything but to string bin along. I mean, he DID beat Romney by a whole 38 votes and he is more conservative than 77847 Reagans.

Nevermind he basically abandoned Florida. That’s part of his “true conservative” strategy or something.

They don’t really care about beating Romney. They secretly hope he wins.

Santorum was actually not going to campaign in Florida anymore even before the problem with his daughter. He was already going home to “work on his taxes,” whatever that meant, and had no more appearances planned for Florida.

Never happen. Every election cycle there is talk of a Brokered Convention. NOT!!! The winner of FL will be the nominees.
