In the past two decades - an entire generation - WHEN has the GOP fought ANY Democrat as hard as they are now fighting conservatives?
So true...so true : (
So true, Psalm. Most “Old” Republicans would rather tie up with a democRAT than fellow Conservative Republicans. Sarah Palin was fought by romney’s people. They along with the presstitutes of our screaming media tried to ruin her by making up lies about her children and her husband. romney has not surrounded himself with decent/nice people and unfortunately, it seems the republican hierarchy are helping him too.
2008 and 2010 was when it was out in the open. The evidence could no longer be denied.
in 2008, McCain ran a campaign where he was consistently behind Obama with the exception being the week or two he announced that Sarah Palin was his VP pick. He never took the campaign seriously and even said things like, “Barack Obama is a nice man. Don’t call him ‘Hussein’. You can trust him..” Worse, he suspended his campaign to lobby in the Senate to plunge our nation further into debt. I knew then it was all over but the crying.
In 2010, JD Hayworth put his money where his mouth was and went up against McCain. McCain came out swinging and you’d think someone had shot his dog. He pulled out the stops and ran attack ads and called in chips with Sarah Palin. Even said he’d “Build the damn fence, if that’s what they really wanted.” I kept asking myself, “Where was THIS McCain in 2008???”
That needs to be repeated over and over!
The heck with the GOP-E and the RNC, they are NOT our friends.
Well, they don't have any choice, now, because Conservatives are fighting back.
Before the TEA party movement, Conservatives, tried to get candidates and influence policy, got lots of promises from the establishment 'pubbies, and got tossed under the bus before the last ballot went in the box.
Now? We've had a bellyfull of that crap, so they have to fight us to keep control of the Party.
They gave Ronnie and AuH2O a hard time too!
I'd say this dates back to A Jackson days. We were bought and sold during WW Woodrow Wilsons term.
Hate to say it, but facts are facts.
The RNC is looking to go with Romney because he's "marketable" to the general public. He's flip-flopped enough that they can craft dual messages that appeal to the widest possible base of voters. Romney is the velvet glove; Newt is an iron fist. The Old Guard, always so concerned about the squishy middle, will risk pissing off conservatives because their thought process continues to be "where else will they go?"
What the Old Guard fails to understand, cycle after cycle, is that when Conservative stay home - they lose. "They" didn't win in 2010, Conservatives won. But from their insulated perspective, it was a GOP victory - not a TEA Party victory.
They may run Romney, but they will lose their base. If they run Gingrich, they risk losing the middle. They've already shown that they are more concerned about losing the middle than defending Conservatism (see Sarah Palin for a recent case study).
That is why they are attacking Newt so hard.
