The establishment is fighting back, alright.
This has not received a lot of national attention, but the Republican legislature in Florida is about to push through a plan which puts Allen West at serious risk, and the person leading the effort is one of Mitt Romneys spokemen. As reported by The Shark Tank:

So true, Psalm. Most “Old” Republicans would rather tie up with a democRAT than fellow Conservative Republicans. Sarah Palin was fought by romney’s people. They along with the presstitutes of our screaming media tried to ruin her by making up lies about her children and her husband. romney has not surrounded himself with decent/nice people and unfortunately, it seems the republican hierarchy are helping him too.
Yet another Romneybot out to consolidate power and screw the base.
FUMR!!!!!
I have never been as disgusted w politicas as i am now.
FUMR x 100!!!!
This ROMNEY tyranny must STOP!!
VOTE NO ON ROMNEY!! VOTE YES FOR NEWT!!
GET ON THE PHONE, FREEPERS!
If this is indeed the case, then I will break ties with the GOP. It appears now that the both parties have been co-opted and the normal people on the street have no say in how the government is run.

That does it. Mom was right. I’m down for Newt!
Once elected they all become members of the Club. Thereafter, the Dems are power hungry and the GOP are enablers. The Dems want to rule the world and the GOP want to have front row seats for photo ops, perks and pensions.
A true second party or term limits for elected officials (and staffers)will stop the rot of this one party of a revolving door ruling class.
Amendment 6 did this, not the legislature. The legislature’s authority to directly draw lines was taken away and given to a “bipartisan” commission...we know how that goes.
2008 and 2010 was when it was out in the open. The evidence could no longer be denied.
in 2008, McCain ran a campaign where he was consistently behind Obama with the exception being the week or two he announced that Sarah Palin was his VP pick. He never took the campaign seriously and even said things like, “Barack Obama is a nice man. Don’t call him ‘Hussein’. You can trust him..” Worse, he suspended his campaign to lobby in the Senate to plunge our nation further into debt. I knew then it was all over but the crying.
In 2010, JD Hayworth put his money where his mouth was and went up against McCain. McCain came out swinging and you’d think someone had shot his dog. He pulled out the stops and ran attack ads and called in chips with Sarah Palin. Even said he’d “Build the damn fence, if that’s what they really wanted.” I kept asking myself, “Where was THIS McCain in 2008???”

This has nothing to do with the GOP or Allen West in particular - the legislature’s authority was stripped. The legislature challenged this in court and lost. This amendment was a powerplay by the ACLU and the Democrats and it worked to cause the coastal GOP candidates to be wiped out.
From the link above:
If the amendments succeed in limiting gerrymandering in Florida, many Democrats believe the change would weaken the state’s entrenched GOP majority. Republicans argue that their success is based on ideology not partisan districts.[24]
The impact of the amendments on Republicans could be sharply felt in the state’s coastal communities. Several of these districts stretch along the coast, uniting coastal communities but dividing counties and municipalities. Since the amendments require that county and city lines are respected where possible, these districts may have to be re-drawn. However, local Republicans argue that these communities share common interests, interests that should be respected in redistricting. The legislators most likely to be affected include: US Rep. Allen West (R-22), State Sen. Ellyn Bogdanoff (R-91), and State Reps. George Moraitis (R-91), Bill Hager (R-87), Pat Rooney (R-83), William Snyder (R-82), and Jeff Clemens (R-89).[25]
This article posted is quite selective on its facts - the top target of the Democrats in getting this amendment passed was Allen West...after it was passed they already knew West would be in serious trouble. Maybe some are happy to try to get rid of West - certainly possible...however, with that amendment being the law of the land, he was going to be in a bad situation regardless.
See post 55.
Apparently token blacks are OK in the GOP (like JC Watts), but become intolerable when they gets uppity.
That needs to be repeated over and over!
The heck with the GOP-E and the RNC, they are NOT our friends.
I definitely hope people on this site who are so die in the wool for Mittens, see this story and really understand what is going on in the establishment GOP. They are not conservative thinkers. They have the typical DC mind set, acquire as much personl power as they can. Allen West is a terrific guy. He needs support Florida!! And so does Newt need your support Tuesday.
Good point.
