Folks, we need to be on our knees, NOW, praying for Newt Gingrich and for our country. I don't want this to be political.....Newt was not my first choice, but after seeing what the press did to Sarah, then Mr. Cain, and what they're now trying to do to Newt, with of course the BLESSING of Romney....well, we need to stop this NOW. We can ALL agree that NONE of us wants O'Bama back in office, that is a given.
I have children...lots of YOU have children. I have grandkids, lots of YOU have grandkids. I do NOT want them to grow up in a country that is no longer free.
Gator113 said in this thread "I truly believe that God is trying to bless this country again.
Free will is a tricky thing.... if we use it right, then we can win..... if we use it wrong ...we go to hell.
Failure to recognize this clear guidance and blessing from God, will be at our peril.
By this time next year, there will be a beautiful New Morning in America, a morning of promise, a morning of dreaming again, a morning when our country begins to heal...... or... we will see the death of our childrens future while we watch this once great country burn to the ground.
Freeper MissMagnolia offered up this beautiful and heartfelt prayer in the above mentioned thread:
"O God, who by your Providence did lead our forefathers to this land where they found refuge from oppression and freedom to worship you, and who in this land has made the people the ministers of your just rule, turn their hearts to you, that holding their citizenship as a sacred trust, they may guard, defend and use it according to your will. Also, that serving you with willing, joyful and obedient hearts, they may cherish their freedom as a blessing of your Gospel. We beseech you ever to guide our Nation in the way of truth and peace so that we may never fail in the blessing which you have promised to those people whose God is the Lord. We also humbly implore you to regard Newt Gingrich, seeking to be the President of the United States, his counselors, and all others who will be in authority over us; that, guided by your Holy Spirit, they may be high in purpose, wise in counsel, and unwavering in duty; and in the administration of their solemn charge may wholly serve your will, uphold the honor of our Nation, secure the protection of our people, and set forward every righteous cause; through Jesus Christ, thy Son, our Lord. Amen."
Folks, we Christians have been remiss in not praying for America. We've been commanded by Jesus Himself to pray for our leaders. This country will fall, or not...depending upon OUR prayers.
This is going to be a daily thread, I need you all to contribute to it. IN PRAYER!!!
Heavenly Father, we come before You as one, asking your forgiveness for our failure to pray. For our failure to stand up for what is right and what is wrong. I ask for your forgiveness. Lord, please bless this country. Help us to all have Your strength to stand up against evil, to speak out for those who are in need of Your salvation. Lord, please give Newt the words he needs, at the time he needs, to fight the onslaught of evil being thrown at him. Please give him YOUR strength. Lord, hear our prayer....In Your Holy Name, Amen!
Just added RIck’s name to tagline when I saw your post. we must stand together.
“Two or more” AMEN
I can’t argue with ANYTHING you said...
Thank you!!
GO NEWT! GO SOCIAL CONSERVATISM!
AMEN!!!
Thank you from my heart, MissMagnolia, for your sublime and gracious prayer!
Like you, Brad's Gramma, Newt was not my first choice. It was Gov. Perry a solid Constitutionalist, eminently successful Executive, and very gracious man who withdrew from the contest, perhaps thereby giving Newt a boost in South Carolina at a time when he needed "momentum" going into Florida.
It has been said of Newt's campaign that he has "died and been resurrected twice" already, "against all odds" (as determined by the Republican National Committee with whom I have a very serious bone to pick, because of their contempt for the Tea Party). This must make Newt the current "comeback kid...."
...running against his own party's Establishment which sounds like a good thing to do to me.... In recent times, the official party has been as guilty as the Democrats of undermining our system of individual liberty under just and equal laws.
And so today, I'm getting off the fence and coming out for Newt. Having a clearer sense of who his enemies are, I find I need to support him.
No one is perfect. Newt has a reputation for "unpredictability." He has had a pretty messy personal life. But no one can deny that he got some very serious things accomplished in the decade of the '90s really "big" ideas culminating in The Contract with America, welfare reform, balanced budgets, etc.
Romney may be "squeaky clean" on paper (so to speak; but then, maybe not as several prominent FReepers have pointed out). But at the end of the day, he comes across like a soulless technocrat; and I find it difficult to forgive him for the sociocultural degeneration that occurred in Massachusetts under his tenure as governor (e.g., same-sex marriage, RomneyCare). He's the kind of guy who can make the trains run on time. Beyond that, I do not sense any particular fervent commitment on his part to the idea of America as anything BUT a functioning (more or less) economic system....
And so I'm pledging to Newt this, BTW, makes me a "Newtonian," not a "Newtist"... LOLOL!
With all his warts, I'll take a protean thinker, steeped in American history and the Constitution, over a soulless technocrat whose campaign is largely funded by institutions which are up to their eyeballs in "crony capitalism"; e.g., Solomon Brothers.
And so, my prayer for Newt:
Dearest Father in Heaven, when the David of We the People goes up against the Goliath who seeks to destroy them, may his aim be true. Hold him safe from the harm of false witness, vituperation, and slander from those who wish to destroy him. May Thy Grace be ever with him, may he stand firmly upon the Rock of Thy Truth.Things would be easier now, if Rick Santorum would recognize that "now is not his time," and graciously withdraw from the race so as to prevent any further fractionating of the conservative base. I am glad to leave this up to his conscience. Though I do note: Gov. Perry has already most graciously established a precedent for this.Holy Father, guard our champion from falsehood and harm. May Thy Light lead his path; may Thy Spirit be with him. May he truly be an effective champion of the principles which have ever made our "exceptional" America great. For America is founded in Thy Logos; our prosperity as a nation has ever depended on it. Indeed, this is the very thing that makes America "exceptional" among the historical community of nations.
Lord, help us in our time of need! And may Thy instrument Newt Gingrich be ever faithful unto You in the discharge of his duties to the American public, now and always. I pray Lord, give him the strength to be a faithful servant of the American people but most of all of You, my gracious, merciful Lord!
Dearest Father, hear my prayer, in the Name of your only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. In all things, Father, Thy will be done on Earth, as it is in Heaven. Thy will, not mine, be done. Amen.
May God ever bless the United States of America! May He be with us in our current travails! May He ever draw us into His truth and righteousness!
Otherwise, I simply do not know what will become of us We the People of the United States of America. But if we lose to a Lie, not much good can be expected for the future prospects of a nation devoted to the principle of individual liberty under limited government.
For that is the very sort of thing that the Father of Lies most detests.
Godspeed, Mr. Newt!
Wow... Just a BTTT for your post and prayer!
GO NEWT! GO SOCIAL CONSERVATISM!
**********GO GRASSROOTS!***********
A whole-hearted Amen. BTTT
Thank you for that memory; Ollie is a fellow old marine. We old guys have the same prayers :>)

A Prayer for the Nation
Almighty God, Who has given us this good land for our heritage; We humbly beseech Thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of Thy favor and glad to do Thy will.
Bless our land with honorable ministry, sound learning, and pure manners.
Save us from violence, discord, and confusion, from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way.
Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people, the multitude brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues.
Endow with Thy spirit of wisdom those whom in Thy name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that through obedience to Thy law, we may show forth Thy praise among the nations of the earth.
In time of prosperity fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in Thee to fail;
all of which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Thomas Jefferson, Washington D.C., March 4, 1801
If ever time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent ruin - Samuel Adams 1783
It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not be religionists but by Christians, not on religion but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We shall not fight alone. God presides over the destinies of nations. - Patrick Henry 1776
GREAT post, Jane.
Pinging the boss....

Tonight I’m reading “The Real George Washington” and came across this quote:
“Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.”
....Benjamin Franklin
Lord, we beg YOU, lead us, strengthen us and bless America once again.
We’ve blown it, so badly...
Lord, please, hear our prayers. Forgive us. Heal us.
“two or more” Amen
I came across this recently - glad you posted it.
We are seeing our “ancient foe” hard at work with craft, power and cruel hate in our country as a whole and now in this election. God can fell the Prince of Darkness with one word and to God we pray .... Lord have mercy, hear our prayer. Help us, give us strength to fight and win against the devils that threaten to undo us for we can not do this on our own. We need You in our country and in our lives and we humbly ask You to continue blessing America, as You have since its founding, that we may continue to serve You; through Jesus Christ, thy Son, our Lord. Amen.
A Mighty Fortress Is Our God
1. A mighty fortress is our God,
a bulwark never failing;
our helper he amid the flood
of mortal ills prevaling.
For still our ancient foe
doth seek to work us woe;
his craft and power are great,
and armed with cruel hate,
on earth is not his equal.
2. Did we in our own strength confide,
our striving would be losing,
were not the right man on our side,
the man of God’s own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is he;
Lord Sabaoth, his name,
from age to age the same,
and he must win the battle.
3. And though this world, with devils filled,
should threaten to undo us,
we will not fear, for God hath willed
his truth to triumph through us.
The Prince of Darkness grim,
we tremble not for him;
his rage we can endure,
for lo, his doom is sure;
one little word shall fell him.
4. That word above all earthly powers,
no thanks to them, abideth;
the Spirit and the gifts are ours,
thru him who with us sideth.
Let goods and kindred go,
this mortal life also;
the body they may kill;
God’s truth abideth still;
his kingdom is forever.
You alone in the garden while others slept between my evening prayers and morning prayers?
Familiar scenario.
LORD, forgive us our ignor-ance. So soon we abandon you.
