A set of photographs showing the private side of Adolf Hitler have been published for the first time. The colour pictures come from the collection of Hugo Jaeger, Hitler's personal photographer, who captured him on camera him from 1936 to the final days of his rule in 1945. Jaeger hid thousands of transparencies in a leather suitcase at the end of the war. The case was found by six US soldiers as they searched a house near Munich where he was staying but they were more interested in a bottle of cognac he had also slipped inside.

Those aren’t German troops. It’s a march by by the Sturmabteilung, the SA, or Brownshirts. The guy in front of Hitler closest to the camera is Pffer von Saloman, one time Chief of the SA. The partially hidden guy behind him [in SA uniform] is Hermann Goering.
Based on everything I’ve read, that is my understanding, too.
Didn’t take them long to get a picture of Uncle Joe up.
The never-ending demonization of Hitler (e.g.) tends to forestall thinking about the man and his beliefs, motivations, and policies. It's too easy to say, "well the man was just a demon from Hell" and let it go at that.
A less impassioned view, while not denying all the evil that the man did, might be more instructive to people who would otherwise dismiss any true analyisis of the man and his movement, and thus miss an opportunity to see the context in which he acted, and the lessons for our own time.
Of course, people on FR almost universally understand and acknowledge all the evil the man loosed upon the world. But it helps to look beyond that as well, to see the chilling lessons for the present day.
And, of course, to do that, we need to seek an exemption to Godwin's Law.

“Godwin's Law of Nazi Analogies is a humorous observation made by Mike Godwin in 1990”
There is nothing analogous about Hitler being Hitler or Hitler being a Nazi.
It was/is not my place to judge him, but I am sure God has.
"The book" states there is a Hell and that is where dead evil men reside. I will leave it at that.
The Yalta Accord was the single largest black mark against the U.S. left at the end of WWII..
Hugo Jaeger’s color stills have been out for several years now, I presume these are previously unpublished?
I wonder if that guy caught heck for standing in front of Stalin’s name?
Good find.
“The partially hidden guy behind him [in SA uniform] is Hermann Goering.”
One can also see Rudolph Hess third to the left from Goering..
It seems some were released in 2009 from what I can gather, maybe not all. Another from the UK Daily Mail from a few days ago: “The Fuehrer and his Frauleins: Extraordinary colour photographs emerge of Nazi leader celebrating his 50th birthday (with lots of brunettes)”
I think some of those photos have been in circulation for some time.
My sardonic reference to Godwin’s Law was a little elliptic, I confess.
I was merely trying to imply that possible parallels one might to draw between the Nazi Era, and its leader, to our present circumstance, would be a nominal violation of the law, for which we may need to seek a dispensation.
In fact, for about two years on this forum, I have been suggesting its repeal, since these troubled times make it, IMHO, counterproductive.
I wonder what ever happened to the two Russian ladies.
BUMP for later read
You know, I thought the photos looked familiar.
So this picture is taken from the right bank, the east side, of the Rhine, correct?
