Newt Gingrich is responding to last nights debate with a brutal new ad accusing Romney of trying to mislead, deceive, and distort his way to the White House.
Heres the money line: What kind of man would mislead, distort and deceive just to win an election? This man would: Mitt Romney.
The ad essentially accuses Romney of lying at least twice in the debate last night: 1) about his blind trust and, 2) about his vote for Paul Tsongas in 1992.
The ad is still being produced, but here is the full ad script:
Governor Mike Huckabee:
If a mans dishonest to get a job, hell be dishonest on the job.
Voice-over:
What kind of man would mislead, distort and deceive just to win an election?
This man would: Mitt Romney.
Romney said he has always voted Republican when he had the opportunity.

I think what we saw yesterday (bloody Thursday) was not so much an attempt to persuade with the substance of the accusations, it was more psychological ....the shear mass was meant to be the payload. As time goes on and the lies are put to rest the Romney camp will have very little to use going forward. If Newt can weather this storm and turn it around on Romney, make him out to be a liar, Newt will once again rise from the ashes.....
There is still time before Tues to convince voters Romney lies.
Is Huckabee lending his voice to the ad, or is it an excerpt from a speech?
If Republicans treat Republicans this way, then they need to run the general election on issues such as fast & furious, cocaine, homosexuality, birth certificates, and islam. If the GOP nominee decides to be genteel and polite instead, then we just have a second Whig party and I don't have to pay attention to them for the rest of my life.
For me, 2012 is make or break for the Republican Party. I want Obama attacked with ads like this one.
If Newt gets the nod...I have no doubt you will get your (and my) wish.....
Huck’s statement comes from a 2008 presidential debate as I recall.
I think Huckabee said that four years ago, or not long after the 2008 primaries.
Newt may be overplaying his hand. He just sent engraved invitations out for Romney to launch some: If a candidate can't keep the vows made to his wife ads.
“There is still time before Tues to convince voters Romney lies.”
Darn right there is. Thanks to the Vegas dude’s SuperPac money. Time for another Romney gaffe. Time for another blast from Alaska.
“Newt may be overplaying his hand. He just sent engraved invitations out for Romney to launch some: If a candidate can’t keep the vows made to his wife ads.”
Somehow I just don’t think that’s a reason to hold back from Gingrich firing both barrels. Romney fired the first shot back in December, and if Romney thought an attack like that would work, it would be bombs-away with it anyhow!
See, I wonder about the ethics of this...Newt for a while here in Florida was using Michele Bachman sound bites from a speech years ago about him...the radio ad said something like, “Michele Bachman says this about Newt...” and then a very pro-Newt quote from Bachman was played.
I don’t recall the specifics, but it wasn’t a CURRENT endorsement of Newt...I guess it is free speech and fair game, but it sure seemed to be made to sound like an endorsement when it wasn’t.
I’m not the professional ad writer, but...I’d rather see an ad using Romney saying of RombamaCare, “It’s nothing to get angry about.” Also that comment he made, disparaging Newt for actually bothering to learn about local concerns like Charleston Harbor and NASA — that was idiotic. Those things aren’t local. Improved harbors and the space program are valuable to everyone and Newt is to be commended for being informed on them.
I supported Newt from the beginning because he concentrated on Obama and refused to obey the MSM script which called for every GOP candidate tearing apart every other GOP candidate.
All the candidates would do well to realize that the reason Newt got a bump was his push against the left and particularly the MEDIA. If they don’t get smart soon we can rest assured that the 11th commandement by RR was lost on this group of candidates, who declare they are like Ronnie...not.
But Romney has his blind trust running his ads, so he’s OK.
I'm not really fond of Newt, but he will be a considerable improvement over what we have in the white house now.
He's going to need the Santorum voters, the Romney voters, even a few of the Ron Paul voters plus a few more to carry him over the finish line.
Its time to turn the guns around to face Obama. The GOP race is over after Newt wins Florida. Short of the Newtzilla doing himself in, there is nothing to stop him after Florida.
But when a politician runs an ad questioning an opponent's honesty, or his word, and that politician running the ad in on his third set of marriage vows, then it will just scream hypocrisy to a segment of voters.
I guess it's always a gamble of how many voters will take the message intended by the ad, and how many will relate other facts to it and react negatively.
