lorida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, considered a powerful Hispanic political player and rising star in his party, has consistently said no to having vice presidential aspirations. But still, the question keeps coming up.
Rubio, the popular Miami-born son of Cuban immigrants, has been seen by some inside Republican circles as a great "get" as a possible No. 2 on a hypothetical presidential ticket, and is already showing his power to influence the process.
Just this week he pushed back on former House Speaker Newt Gingrich after the Republican presidential candidate ran a Spanish language radio ad labeling former Gov. Mitt Romney as "the most anti-immigration candidate." Rubio called the commercial "inaccurate" and "inflammatory" and the Gingrich campaign pulled the ad.
Gingrich press secretary R.C. Hammond said the ad was taken down as part of a scheduled "rotation time for the ads," not as a result of complaints from Rubio.

Marco is off to a good start in the Senate. I say let him rise to the top of the leadership heap and NOT do the country a disservice by creating another eligibility problem after what we have been dealing with in Obama.
Marco has been coy about his ambitions. I suggest that he KNOWS he is not constitutionally eligible according to the Founders' conception of NBC. I hope he tells the nominee "no way" if asked to join the ticket.

Has Rubio joined the ranks of RINOS in his mimicry of Bob Dole, Christie, McCain, et al., in his attack on Newt?
He has declared strict neutrality.

I hope he CAN move up and ultimately replace McConnell so the senatorial leadership can have some spine for a change.
So far, he has refused to endorse anybody. Marco is definitely a smart politician.
I was very disappointed by Pam Bondi. I thought she had potential. Endorsing Romney was a big mistake.
Yes, if he doesn’t, he very well could become just another Republican without scruples. We really don’t want another middle of the road Republican!
If he tries to join in the fray, he better join the Conservative side or he is lost forever... We really don’t need another wishy-washy Republican!
Back in his run for the senatorial seat, he claimed (on TV) that the GOP spent millions to stop his candidacy in their support of Charlie Crist (which now this has been confirmed) Many negative and deceitful ads. The Tea Party carried his race for victory. He was about to lose before they got involved. It was a nasty election. Now, it seems so strange to see him aligning with the GOP pick while not giving any support to Newt ( whom the Tea Party in Florida are supporting)
Smart is NOT always a good thing. I want someone who will stand up for their principals regardless of who they profess to support!
That comment is what should be branded on the butt of every “politician”

Now he actually defends Romney, ‘the conservative’, in response to Gingrich’s factual charge that Romney is a moderate!
I fully understand why they keep bring up Rubio - do you? If politics continues as it is now, not that it would change things much if we actually tried to do things honestly.
That is the problem today, it’s all about politics - hell with honesty, integrity, or anything dealing with the truth!

Rubio defends Romney because ‘Romney helped him in the 2010 senate run’ but is too chicken to vote now with the tea party who sent him to the senate!

Well, that’s not fair. He should NOT be giving any preference at this point. Now if he does not support the eventual Republican candidate, then that would be a problem.
Don’t condemn him for not supporting a candidate at this point!
I did not assume that he was aligning with Romney. He was defending Gingrich against attacks by Gingrich against Romney regarding immigration. If I’m wrong about that the my whole argument is wrong...
I have never heard him actually support Romney...is that right?
