Even though hes now sheriff, it may surprise some that Ross Mirkarimi owns several guns.
As a longtime member of the progressive bloc on the Board of Supervisors, Mirkarimi was a vocal advocate of gun control.
But after being arrested on three misdemeanor charges including domestic violence battery, Mirkarimi was forced to turn over all his guns to authorities. Court records show Mirkarimi surrendered three handguns: A Sig Sauer P229, a Beretta 92G, and a Smith & Wesson Model 19 .357-caliber magnum revolver.

Two ex-girlfriends of the Sheriff have come forward on record relating incidents of similar violent assaults on them. Both dumped Mirkarimi on the spot as they saw him as a serious danger.
The current broad is a Marxist social(ist) climber from Venezuela and expected to step into the leftist American social ruling elite group with her marriage to the American Marxist. This won't work out so well for her if Mirakrimi goes down, the SF Communists will never forgive her, and will destroy her. Same result if she divorces him, she's screwed.
The tactic she intended to control him only works in secret, when the neighbor snitched (with Evidence) on the both of 'em, everything went out of control, and we (and everybody else) got to see Marxist Rats as they really are. Ain't it grand.
Ex-girlfriend #2 was beaten when she discovered Mirkarimi knocked up the Venezuelan down south while dating her, and confronted him about it.
Remember, this is San Francisco, it's not like the real world.
(I was driving a 1960 Corvair (not the Monza w/the 4-speed ...the base model w/the automatic trans ...hated that car ...managed to wangle an MGA 2 years later; most fun to drive car I've owned!)
Effectively, yes.
As you note in VA, the Sheriff is ELECTED, and we have the same system in CA, and any qualified candidate may run for the office, LEO experience or training is not necessary or required.
In the November 2011 election, Mirkarimi, an ADA lawyer having never served or trained as a Law Enforcement Officer of any kind before the election, was elected to the office of Sheriff (by ranked choice voting).
He might claim that now, he is a LEO, and he has certainly ordered all his deputies to say that he is.
Crazy-world out there. You have described two totally messed up people.
Understood!
Thx for the clarification. So, would it be fair to say that Sheriffs are normally LEO’s; but, this is a rather unique case?
Thx again!
Yes, and two other candidates in last November's election were a senior high ranking current SF deputy sheriff and another individual with substantial LEO employment experience, and they were defeated in the second round of ranked choice vote counting.
I am assuming “ranked choice vote counting” refers to some sort of panel review “goat rope” ...don’t ya just love management by committee???!!! If one manager can’t screw something up; I guarantee 2 or more can!!!
Apparently it no workie like the lefties intended, (or not if ya wanted the worst candidates elected).
Also, some say that like Blackjack and card counters, RCV can be predicted if you have enough party ID information.
