The threat posed by a missile attack on Israel is not as terrible as people think, according to Haim Rosenberg, the former head of long-term planning at Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd.
In a paper published by the BESA Center at Bar Ilan University, Rosenberg explains that at this time, missile attacks by Muslim countries would only be able to inflict limited physical damage on Israel. He further argues that it would be a mistake to prepare mostly for missile strikes, when a future war could also involve ground attacks.
"Recent discussions around a preemptive strike on Iran have included the possible repercussions of such a move, namely missile attacks on Israel," he writes. "The threat of ballistic missile warfare is perceived as a paradigm shift capable of radically altering modern warfare. Those who believe that Middle East battlefields of the future will primarily consist of missile attacks upon Israeli cities therefore argue that Israel must prepare itself for such a situation."
He explains, however, that "no war in which missiles were employed from the Iran-Iraq War to the Second Lebanon War has ever been won without the additional use of maneuvering ground forces. In other words, the use of missiles has never been a deciding factor in any armed conflict."

In other words, the use of missiles has never been a deciding factor in any armed conflict.”
He left off the last two words.......”to date.”
Doesn’t mean there isn’t a first time...
And you wonder why they say the ‘experts were surprised’ when something didn’t go the way they said it should ....
I always wanted to be a statistic when I grew up. So far I haven’t (grown up), though. But hot diggidy! Maybe now I can become “limited physical damage”. There can be miracles...though hope is frail, it’s hard to kill...
I guess this idiot does not considered a NUCLEAR tipped missile to be anything more than some minor Katusha. When they are picking glowing bits of him up to bury I hope he remembers that
Maybe someone's roof tiles will be damaged by a few broken shards of intercepted missile.
I guess the missile threat against the U.S. is exaggerated as well.
The missiles don’t matter untill one just happens to impact over your country and a nuclear device just happens to detonate. What a fool this author is.
The shear number of missles of all types able to be
launched into Israel from surrounding Islamic nations
is in the tens of thousands, have these experts never
heard of the Blitz?
I have been on the receiving end of rockets, I wouldn’t
want to have that happen to anyone.
I just got my “expert” diploma in the mail, and I must agree with my fellow “expert”. After watching an episode of South Park, I have concluded that all the Israelis have to do is set fire to a baseball and throw it at Lebanon, Ghaza, Syria or Egypt, and the heat-seeking missile will follow the ball, exploding at the country that sent it./(sarc necessary to avoid being taken seriously)
