What Really Happened in the Gingrich Ethics Case?
Washington Examiner ^ | January 24, 2012 | Byron York

Posted on 01/24/2012 10:04:04 PM PST by County Agent Hank Kimball

"Given all the attention to the ethics matter, it's worth asking what actually happened back in 1995, 1996, and 1997. The Gingrich case was extraordinarily complex, intensely partisan, and driven in no small way by a personal vendetta on the part of one of Gingrich's former political opponents. It received saturation coverage in the press; a database search of major media outlets revealed more than 10,000 references to Gingrich's ethics problems during the six months leading to his reprimand. It ended with a special counsel hired by the House Ethics Committee holding Gingrich to an astonishingly strict standard of behavior, after which Gingrich in essence pled guilty to two minor offenses. Afterwards, the case was referred to the Internal Revenue Service, which conducted an exhaustive investigation into the matter. And then, after it was all over and Gingrich was out of office, the IRS concluded that Gingrich did nothing wrong. After all the struggle, Gingrich was exonerated...."

One of our graphics specialists should take the Romney/Alinsky picture, super impose Milt’s face (in an obvious way) on his dad’s body and have him holding a page of ‘accuse newt of resigning in disgrace’ items the Romney campaign is using now.

Good read. This needs to get out to all Conservatives, many who still believe the lies told about Newt back in 1997.

IMO Newt is setting WIllard up for the “Execution-Block”
Remember last week he mentioned Alinsky. This week he warned Willard that he knew what he was up to.
Not sure when it gonna happen but I’m expecting the smack down at the next debate. He’ll call him out in a very public way.

Another great read is 'Reagan's Young Lieutenant' in American Spectator - 8 pages, but well worth reading every single word. After reading this, I know Newt has what it takes to be President & will do a good job. I've sent this out to folks .... posting it on FB, passing it around. I'll do the same for the York piece. Lots of misinformation about Newt out there & it needs to be countered

If all they could ever manage after that was a “reprimand”, there had to have been zero case, jack ****.

I have one problem with thsi article:

Ethics Committee Drops Last of 84 Charges Against Gingrich

Gingrich is paying $300,000 for the costs of an ethics committee investigation after admitting last year he made inaccurate statements during a lengthy probe into Democratic allegations that he misused tax-exempt donations. Gingrich denied the charges but submitted to a reprimand by the House.

There's also an article that states that Gingrich's lawyer mistakenly signed off on Gingrich having to pay for his own investigation. I can't find it.

Thanks. Could you also post in on your state thread here on FR and ask others to distribute both like you have been doing.

Also send a copy of each to your congress-critter. They’ve been fed the wrong information from the GOPE aka GO PEE.

After all the struggle, Gingrich was exonerated

So the big fat RINO up in New Jersey who has been supporting and endorsing RINOmney, and maintaining that the ethics violations about Gingrich are an albatrose, fails to mention that Gingrich was exonerated. I knew I didn't like Christie for a reason. His words as follows:

"We all know the record," Christie said. "He was run out of the speakership by his own party. He was fined $300,000 for ethics violations. This is a guy who has had a very difficult political career at times and has been an embarrassment to the party ... I don't need to regale the country with that entire list again except to say this: I'm not saying he will do it again in the future, but sometimes past is prologue."

Maybe someone should address this issue to Christie and tell him he is the real embarrassment to the GOP?

Just the mention of David Bonier in this article made my neck hair stand on edge. There are few people I hate in this life, he is one of them, and Satan the other.

Do you know anyone who has contact information for Sarah or Rush. We need to make sure they get this information. One tweet or comment from either of them mentioning the article would go very far in advancing the message.

NEWT just said he found out that Willard had stock in Fanny/Freddy last night. Freepers have known for some time: NEWTS on the front line, we must be a better supply depot.

OK, those standards they held Newt to were adopted by the Republican party ONLY.
The Democrats had Zero standards of conduct to be held to.

The Republican party was the laughing stock of the times for allowing
the RATs to corner them in such a way. And it's a typical maneuver of the RATs to
agree to something then walk away laughing while denying any participation.
The RATs did this to Reagan over taxes also, they never planned to keep any promise.

In the end the Repubs were held accountable to their own stupid one sided agreement
and were forced to crucify their own with the MSM over their shoulder.

Some folks here on FR post to 'rush' ... don't know if that works or not, but I suspect someone from his staff monitors FR. You can also e-mail him at: ElRushbo@eibnet.com Try to make sure the subject line is something that will catch their attention.

Sarah has FB and you could post the articles on her 'wall', there's also a group (Sarah Palin's Earthquake) & there is SarahPAC, her official PAC, maybe they could help you .... Newt is 'going Rogue' and bucking the establishment, firing up the grassroots so I'm sure they would appreciate the info. I don't Twitter & if you don't, maybe you could find somebody to Twitter her.

I'd e-mail this to Hannity & Levin as well - they should have a contact e-mail on their websites.
