Coral Gables, FL Newt Gingrich released the following statement responding to President Obamas State of the Union address:
We have a crisis of work in this country and tonight President Obama proposed nothing in the way of policy changes that will get us to robust job creation and dramatic economic growth.
Instead, the president described his conviction that his big government is built to last and should be paid for with higher taxes.
But bigger government and higher taxes will not lead to jobs and growth. Bigger government and higher taxes will instead lead to more people on food stamps, a situation which the President and his party defend as a fair outcome.
Here we have to confront the truth about President Obama. Economic growth and prosperity is not really at the top of his agenda. He will always prefer a food stamp economy to a paycheck economy and call it fair.
For the president and a large part of the political class, its about their power, their right to rule. They just want to take money from Joe the Plumber the small business people who makes over 90 per cent of the new jobs -- and redistribute it to the government bureaucracy and their political friends and allies. Thats why so much of that nearly trillion-dollar stimulus didnt create jobs but just went into the pockets of special interests who support President Obama and the leadership of the Democratic Party.
No better example of this exists than in the crisis of American energy. President Obama and his political allies not of few of whom love living in energy inefficient houses or driving gas-guzzling luxury vehicles openly admit they want gas prices to remain high so that the rest of America will learn to live more modestly. They think its good for rest of us. Only recently, the president canceled the Keystone XL Pipeline that would have created countless new jobs and helped America on the way to energy independence because he wanted to appease the far left of his party. And yet not a single word on the Keystone XL pipeline tonight.
To create jobs and growth in this country, we must start with dramatic tax reform that lowers taxes and maximizes capital investment and job creation. We must return to a dollar as good as gold whose purchasing power is the same in thirty years as it is today. We must dramatically expand American energy production. We must have smarter regulation at the same time we abolish destructive and costly regulatory systems beginning with Obamacare,Dodd-Franks, and Sarbanes-Oxley. And finally, unlike the current administration, we must have faith in job creators.
With these policies the state of the union will be much better. They will create an explosion in job creation and lead to robust economic growth and a return to prosperity. Furthermore, a paycheck economy will put us on a path to balanced budgets and paying down our national debt.
I posted the whole story. If you’ve a mind to, click on the link to donate or just look around.
Didn’t read it all yet but the WSJ has a hit piece about how obastard is going to win and how Newt has a Nero complex and all that rot.
Short and succinct but do we have enough gold to back the currency?
Really, Newt, no grammer checking?
I’m pretty sure I’m getting numb to all this stuff. I really don’t see how anyone can be inspired by what either obastard, newt, Cain or any other politician has to say anymore.
Newt’s response seems awfully thin to me but sound bites are what sell I suppose. I just don’t know where they sell though.
OUTSTANDING...now that is what the GOP response should have been.
Direct, to the point, and not candy coating it. Simply the truth.
God grant that we can remove Obama in 2012 and get a conservative president, House and Senate...and the same in most of the several states...so we can begin truly turning this thing around.

No spell checking?
When we were on the gold standard we didn't have enough gold to back the currency. The Gold Standard merely fixes the value of the dollar and makes a covenant to redeem it for Gold. If there was a run on the gold backed dollar, there would not be enough gold to keep the covenant.
The fact is that there is not enough gold in the world to pay off the US National Debt, much less to back future currency.
That might be a hit piece attempt but it fails badly. The problem is that the WSJ are a part of the establishment elite. Therefore, the WSJ is a part of the problem. They live in their protective bubble and don’t seem to recognize the discontent all across the country. They’ll be just as surprised as the Democrats on election night this Nov. They learned NOTHING from the 2010 election victory. For smart people, they sure are stupid.
“the WSJ has a hit piece “
Yes, but it attacks Mitt for being a loser too.
We all might want a better candidate, but we have to fight the battle with the army that we have and Newt is our best hope. The WSJ is quite right about Mitt. Mitt is a robot dud who will put people to sleep.
But, Newt has proven he can attract voter attention with his public speaking and debating, can win sizable elections and can inspire and build enthusiasm for the election and his leadership.
He isn’t perfect, but unlike the Democrats, we are not looking for a god come down from the heavens to lead us. Newt is the perfectly flawed man to lead us in a difficult time. Go Newt!
“The fact is that there is not enough gold in the world to pay off the US National Debt, much less to back future currency. “
Yes, the gold standard is a truly stupid idea that shouldn’t be an issue for informed conservatives. There are better solutions to our currency problems.
Response two;OUTSTANDING...now that is what the GOP response should have been.
Direct, to the point, and not candy coating it. Simply the truth.
Had to post this contrast in opinions, one following the other. I found it fascinating.
That would be, "Grammar checking."
Yeah. Hume keeps saying we're in for 4 more years of hussein if Newt gets the nomination too. His proof is hussein's game plan has only one opponent on it and that's Romney.
That is what I thought.
Ping
Not sure who has a Newt Ping List.
Nero fiddled while the capital of Rome burned. If Newt ends up doing the same thing, I'll say he's a hero because he's doing what we elected him to do.
They learned something alright. Tea Party isn't exactly Wall Street. More like Main St. Hussein or Romney, tomato/tomata, either works for the elite. Newt is a wild card, and scares them.
