I wonder who chose Daniels to give the response. It had to be Rinos and the establishment republicans....who might just as well have been democrats. It is a setup for a brokered convention....if romney does not take it in the primaries.....we will go to the point of spilling the blood of conservatives on the convention floor. We shall see.

Nice speech but its still Mitchie the Stiff giving it. This is the guy the GOP establishment wants to trot out if Mitt falls down. I’m getting a migraine trying to imagine Mitch Daniels debating Obama on TV.

I’ll stick with Newt thanks.

"Means testing" is just another, less obvious form of relegating citizens into a "classes," through redistributing the money confiscated from some through compulsory taxation, passing it through the Washington shrinking machine, and then "distributing" it to others who have been designated as "deserving."

Say it isn't so that Republicans are going Obama-Lite.

Gov. Daniels and the other Republicans might begin by reading the following summary of principles, which constitutes a level of discourse that could help Americans to evaluate the grave matters before us in terms of:

"1. Does this legislation or idea increase, or decrease, individual freedom and creativity?

"2. Does this legislation or idea increase, or decrease, the power of some citizens over other citizens?

"3. Does this legislation or idea recognize that the persons who will exercise the power are themselves imperfect human beings?

"4. Does this legislation or idea recognize that government is incapable of creating wealth?

"5. Does this legislation or idea authorize taking from some what belongs to them, and giving it to others to whom it does not belong?
If 'thou shalt not steal' is a valid commandment, can we assume that it is meant to apply only to individuals and not to government (which is made up of individuals), even if those persons in power pass laws which sanction such redistribution of the wealth of others?'

"6. Does this legislation or idea encourage, or discourage, the very highest level of morality and responsibility from the individual?
. . .when government makes actions 'legal' by some citizens at the expense of other citizens, the result may be behavior which would not be considered possible by individuals acting alone.

"7. Does this legislation or idea propose that the 'government' do something which the individual cannot do without committing a crime?"**

**7 principles drawn from James R. Evans book, "America's Choice: Twilight's Last Gleaming or Dawn's Early Light," and reprinted in a Stedman Corporation (Asheboro, NC) booklet entitled "I'm Only One, What Can I Do?"

Did anyone hear Krauthammer wax eloquent on this speech? I’m sorry, Mitch might have touched on conservative truths but he just came across as a pussy! (can I say that on Free Republic?). We are in a war here folks! We need a General! There is only one man that will uncompromisingly go to war and who has the intellect and veracity to accomplish the desired goal. Wimpy conservatives who wine the truth are worthless. The groundswell has begun and Mitch Daniels is back in his tent wondering if it’s a good idea to get too worked up. BORING MITCH!!! PASSIONLESS!!! You are luke warm and I spit you from my mouth!!

"No feature of the Obama Presidency has been sadder than its constant efforts to divide us, to curry favor with some Americans by castigating others.

But that is Obamas purpose...he is not about the American peoples good....nor is he a leader except by name....leaders get the work done...leaders know how to to the job....leaders don't insult and ridicule the populace on a daily. He's a very real embarassment and the International Community recognizes this.

The GOP establishment’s relief pitcher for Willard is warming up in the bullpen.

And speaking of “bull”

“I personally would add to that list admiration for the strong family commitment that he and the First Lady have displayed to a nation sorely needing such examples”

On our next family vacay, I fully intend to travel on a separate jet from my husband. All hail mooch and barry.

The good news folks is that most Americans DID NOT tune into the President or the GOP response.

Obama, IMHO, is still beatable.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the GOP Establishment proposes to counter Obama:

1) He’s a lovely man and gentleman with a beautiful family,
2) That we got into our current economic mess isn’t his fault in the least,
3) He is however just a tad ‘extreme’ in the ways he wants to ‘change’ America, while not having been quite quick enough in fixing the mess created while our last GOP president was in office.

Yikes!

Mitch Daniels as a replacement? The guy was a relatively uninspiring suit. And while his pre-written transcript I’m sure hits all the right points, there was no fire.

If the republicans are going to go with a Rino, then they might as well go with Giuliani. At least he’s one of the best orators in the country.

Sorry Mitch but your response to the SOTUS (Screed of the Unqualified $hithead) was like a can of Coke that had been opened for four days.

FLAT!

It sounded like a Republican “malaise” speech to me. I can see why the governor gave up his presidential campaign.
