"I talked to a top Romney adviser tonight who said, 'Look, if Mitt Romney cannot win in Florida ....And we're going to have try to come with someone as an alternative to Newt Gingrich who could be Jeb Bush, Mitch Daniels, someone.' Because there is such a desperation by the so-called party elites, but that's exactly what Gingrich is playing against," Andrea Mitchell said on NBC tonight after the debate.

Are you calling McCain a clown??
So how would these idiots ever get on the ballot? Isn’t it too late?
Mrs. Prince of Space
I guess the standard of Newt not mussing up the hair of the coronated leader is a one way street.
Not much room for ‘compromise’ from the moderates these days. I wonder why they’re so desperate?
The GOP establishment had a lot of help from other parties when they took out Sarah (and Cain), but the point is well made.
Newt is proving to be a much harder nut to crack because he’s been around this game a long time and knows how it’s played. In the King debate, his response epitomized the oldest defense maxim there is.
“The best defense is a good offense.”
I really don’t know if any Republican establishment type that would have a ghost of a chance against Newt. If there were any, they’d already be running.
In a different forum, one poster said that, at this point, the establishment RINOS would rather lose to Obama than win with Newt, simply because Obama would screw things up totally in his second term and they could waltz to victory in 2016 with an acceptable standard bearer (Jeb).
The flaw in that idea, obviously, is that there is not likely to BE a United States of America if we have to suffer another four years of Obama.
“Another Bush this soon? I - dont - think - so.”
On the other hand, if I recall correctly, 1928 was the last time the Republicans won the Presidency without a Bush or a Nixon somewhere on the ticket. What’s Julie doing lately?
We primary voters are just such nuisances to our betters, aren’t we? And they let us have the fantasy of believing we matter and everything. How unappreciative we are.
These are the same people who insist on a moderate candidate because “conservatives can’t win”. That tells you all you need to know about those people: they have no faith in conservatism. If they truly believed in it, their passion would sell it to the mushhead middle they are so worried about.
But they don’t and they can’t. So they can get dumped in the trash along with the mailings they send me.
So they are admitting that the “Party Elites” choose the Candidate, and NOT the “People”.
That’s RICH!
