All we need to know to know that tax reform will be a prominent part of the presidents speech tonight is that Warren Buffetts secretary, Debbie Bosanek, will be in a box with the First Lady. Bosanek says she couldnt sleep last night because shes so excited even though she knows shell have to wake up in time for a dawn flight tomorrow morning to be sure to report to work on time.
Bosanek isnt the only interesting guest on the list, though. The First Lady has also extended invitations to: Steve Jobs widow, Laurene Powell Jobs; outgoing Rep. Gabby Giffords husband, Mark Kelly; and Adam Rapp, a cancer survivor that the Obama administration says was helped by Obamacare.
Obama will likely touch on something relevant to each of these guests: about efforts to stimulate technological innovation, for example; about what we learned from the Tucson shooting and the incredible story of Giffords recovery, perhaps; about the effectiveness of Obamacare, assuredly.
Thats not unusual; every president since Reagan has used guests to illustrate important points in his addresses. Personal anecdotes are always an effective way of touting a particular stance on an issue. Plus, they serve as an important reminder that policy matters because persons matter. Mentions of these guests even if theyre misleading about the overall effects of Obamas policies will at least enliven a speech that otherwise promises to be dully divisive.
Did he invite any of the Supremes? I hope none of them show up...
Hopefully...one year from today we will be living under a US administration that doesn’t hate us.
Prayerfully...let us ask for guidance to make Obama’s tenure only one term. Don’t think the country can stand eight years.
So Obamacare’s trillion dollar price tag, higher rates for every family, companies cutting insurance all together, high unemployment due to costs and massive government power grab is worth it for one person to get cancer treatment supposedly due to Obamacare. That’s an awfully big price tag.
I haven’t watched one of Obama’s State of the Union addresses from start to finish. I just can’t stand to look or listen to him for more than two minutes.
1) The economy is recovering (quotes phoney statistics on un-employment, hiring, etc. that HIS people made up)
2) Talk about rich having to pay "their fair share" to help "the Middle Class and the poor" (codespeak for buying ghetto votes, and handouts of taxdollars to Unions)
3) Too much income disparity, and we need to "share"..... (meaning taking more tax from WORKING PEOPLE, to hand to those who live off the Gubmint)
4) Foreclosure "crisis", and getting ghetto tribes into the suburbs by having taxpayers pay their rent, and they move to suburbs to destroy the housing there, too, as they do to ALL Public Housing they inhabit.
5) It's Bush's fault (he inherited all the problems he's created) and it's "work not finished on the Plan that is showing signs of economic recovery" (the "Recovery" is ONLY apparent in the phony numbers his People have created)
Me too!!!!
A couple of them are certain to show up. They are joined to him at the hip!
Why do i keep thinking about the ending to “Debt of Honor”?
“Did he invite any of the Supremes? I hope none of them show up...”
Oh.I don’t know.
I think Diana Ross would go if invited!
Don’t know about the other 2 “Supremes” though..
:0)
I am expecting Sarah Brady to wheel out Jim at some point.
That will be sad.
Stop in the name of love...la..la..la......
Will he give a shot out? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYldhOp1p34
Will he make fun of special Olympians?
Will he say the police acted stupidly without any evidence?
Will he mock the Tea Party?
Will he blame someone else for failing to turn around the economy?
Will he blame someone esle for increasing our debt almost 40%?
Will he lie?
And, what can he possibly say about “jobs” that anybody would believe?
Great choice perhaps the rest of us can learn from that and go dark tonight...imagine the power of the “least watched” in history.
Or, just take a look at the name of the website that published the article.
I won’t be watching. I can think of hundreds of things more productive than listening to this liar in chief go on and on about what he claims to have done when the facts show completely the opposite. This man is destroying America and I will not give him the time of day nor my time, EVER. IMPEACH HIM.
One of Clancy's best.
And yes, I remember to ending, no comment.
To even speak to the greatest nation God ever created by this America hater is an act right out of the Twilight Zone.
