Newt just sent out a Campaign e-mail "Romney's conservative accomplishments." The email body is blank.
To: LonePalm
Well, this carries some weight with me. I'll be interested to see his statement and reasons. Fred Thompson was my first choice last time. I thought he was the one who "got" federalism best of all and could articulate it well. I even sent some money to Fred's campaign, and I don't regret it. Unfortunately, he had withdrawn by the time of the Missouri primary.
At this point I am undecided between Romney and Gingrich. There's lots that I like about Romney, and there's lots that I like about Gingrich. I cheer for both men when they say something good at a debate. I also recognize flaws in each man, I have reservations about each. I think they're pretty much on the same page on the issues. Either one would be much, much better than Obama. I'm ABO. The main question for me is which one has the better chance of defeating Obama. May the best man win.

Don’t get me wrong this is a good thing. But I do wonder if these endorsements are of any real value. I mean have you ever met anyone who said ‘I’m voting for candidate X because someone endorsed them? Because I haven’t.

I think Freds endorsement will help with some Conservatives. I am glad to see Fred is an independent and not tied to the establishment. GO NEWT GO!

That’s 2 of my guys that have endorsed Newt.
Tonight I realized that Newt’s the only one of the 4 remaining that I could see as Commander in Chief.

I was an original "FRedhead" on this forum when he announced his candidacy.
A friend of mine passed away last week at age 66....an FR lurker, a great conservative, a Marine Sergeant, a paraplegic Nam vet confined to a wheel chair. Fred did a personal favor for my friend when he came to my little town for a campaign speech....and I'll be forever grateful and respectful to him.
His endorsement of Newt and his shunning of Romney didn't surprise me a bit. Fred's a man's man with solid conservative moorings....and NO one should be surprised by his recommendation.

I wonder if he asked Howard Baker and Lamar Alexander for permission.
