Maybe he thought it would help his horndog creds at the time. It was stupid, and Newt backed off of both global warming and the photo-op later.

" That was made before the IPCC email leaks out of Hadley demonstrated the corruption of the IPCC process. Yes, Newt was slower than some, but the science then was not as clear as it is now.
