Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) today asked the principal behind the LightSquared 4G wireless project to explain a questionable contact to Grassleys office that intimated benefits for Grassley if he softened his inquiry of government approval of the project.
Since last April, Grassley has been reviewing the Federal Communications Commissions approval of the LightSquared project and the concerns of interference with the Global Positioning System.
According to a press release issued from Grassleys office today, the Senator wrote to Philip Falcone of Harbinger Capital Partners, expressing concern that two separate incidents implied a desire to have Grassley pull punches in his investigation. Grassley said he wont be a part of that. One contact came in an email from Falcone to Grassleys office, saying that since LightSquared is already in the political arena, it could be made a win for Grassley, LightSquared, and the consumer.
The second contact was from someone who intimated that he represented LightSquared in a call to Grassleys staff. The individual, Todd Ruelle, said he only gets only if this deal goes through and hinted that if LightSquared were allowed to proceed, Grassleys home state of Iowa could get a call center. Grassleys office advised Ruelle not to contact the office further and called the Senate ethics committee regarding the contact.

Otherwise..nothing is going to happen here.
Bribing a Democrat is quite easy, so why shouldn’t they think EVERYONE can be bribed?
I can also see the FBI on the other end of the phone, too, trying to sting a Republican to take pressure off of Obama’s involvement in the deal.
They only need ONE to fall for it, for the equivalency argument.
One sure method of determining that there is no science or potential profit behind a technical undertaking is to see if democrats support it.
Glo-bull warming...check.
Ethanol............check.

Chevy Volt.....check.
LightSquard....check.
Beginning to see a pattern there?
Must be an Occupy-er or a DU-er to be dumb enough to think the offer of a “call center” would be enough to change Grassley’s mind!
The time for fooling around with these people is over.
DRAG THEM THROUGH THE LEGAL PROCESS UNTIL THEY END UP IN A CAGE.
” trying to sting a Republican”
Second thing that entered my mind. Also, I’m quite surprised there aren’t more comments. This seems quite important to me!
Where there’s smoke, there’s fire?
Sen Grassley’s doing great work on his investigations; he’s been a lot of help to Issa in the House on the Gunwalker mess.
>>>When a politician goes to jail.....wake me up.
What we have here is Senator Grassley reporting he was “solicited” that it would be ‘worthwhile’ for him to change his tune on LightSquared.
This is great, this at the same time as that RAT creep trying to frame our Sec. of State.

On the other hand, it could be the DOJ in disguise.
Grassley...is just another "Poster Boy" for TERM LIMITS....
About as bad as Hatch, Collins, Graham, Lugar, McConnell, Snowe,.....etc.
And that's just the Pubbies off the top of my head.....
All the Dims need to be "limited"....IMO.
I'm beyond sick of all these ass-bites....
RANT OFF
The RAT who tried to frame Schultz made the mistake of breaking a state law. If it was up to Holder, the RAT would be protected, as will the one who tried to frame Grassley, unless the crime involves Iowa authorities.
Wait....Grassley was for it....before he was sort of against it. How Kerry like.......
I'm totally sick of these guys....making "laws, rules, regulations, mandates" on the rest of us.....while acting like rulers. And reaping off their "positions".
Grassley is an exceptional senator and totally honest. I'm never going to agree with everyone 100% of the time and neither is anyone else.
But I know on FR it's popular to be anti-ethanol but pro-Newt. That takes some compromising of one's principles.
Grassley has been in D.C. since 1975!!! He's part of the problem, not part of the solution.......
Ethanol is a boondoggle....You know it's true, and I know it's true. I don't care who the politician is. I will say it to their face.
Are you willing to take back our country...or do you want to continue to run that wagon in the same ruts?
Now, Harkin is a different matter. I apologize for that one, even if I have never voted for him.
