On the heels of Newt Gingrichs trouncing of Mitt Romney in the South Carolina primary, Republican Party brass are privately expressing deep concerns that former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrichs high unfavorable rating in national polls could prove catastrophic to the so-called down ballotthe House and Senate races under the presidential raceand may even threaten the Republican Partys control of the House of Representatives...

“Hopefully Rush, Sean, etc. will read your post and make it clear to so many who dont see whats coming.”
Thanks, but none of them are going to be persuaded by any posts of mine. Nevertheless, national dissolution is a real possibility.
People will remain under the authority of a large nation in only three circumstances. At least one of the three must be in effect: 1) Common culture. They are the same, or sufficiently similar ‘people’. e.g. historical Russia or China. The people want to remain. 2) Common interest. It serves them for order, prosperity or at least mutual defense. e.g. Rome, the British Commonwealth, traditional America. Again, the people want to remain. 3) Brute force. e.g. the Persian Empire, the Soviet Union. It doesn’t matter what people want they are compelled to remain.
Our common culture has been under attack for a long time, and it was never, ever as strong as has been touted, and is in very sharp decline now. We have no common interest in remaining in a union where the central government actively discourages individual or commercial success and prosperity, or even economic efficiency, unless of course one is an administrator or dependent of the declining and inefficient state. As for brute force, the Soviet Union was -designed- to hold together through means of intimidation if necessary, and it blew apart in less than a year. The United States is still too full of independent and liberty minded people, who are armed and mechanically and technologically proficient for simple goons to hold it together by brute force. DHS would probably not hold out as long as the Securitat in the face of a mass popular uprising. And, of course, the bankrupt state is not able to pay its goons and thugs very well. The swift and total collapse of European Iron Curtain communism is proof of that.
Absent a radical course correction, the United States will go the same way as the Soviet Union. Dissolution.
Rush can see the possibility and has promised to warn us. By that time, everyone else will see it anyway and he will be in New Zealand or wherever.
Hannity could not grasp the real potential of a post United States America.
Levin I am sure -does- grasp the potential for a post United States America but probably would never admit its possibility.
(i.e., it’s the economy, stupid).
And don’t forget their slogan: “Character doesn’t matter”
It's more likely that this is Newt's time and he is the best choice out of the available field.
In the 2008 an unknown Obama lied and BSed his way through the campaign using an uplifting but empty promise of Hope and Change. The worshipful media helped him hide just what he meant by change.
We now know what this guys is all about and in the 2012 Obama is going to revert to his previous mode as a mean, nasty and divisive campaigner who uses lies , smears and dirty tricks to win.
The McCain / Romney non confrontational and respectful High Road is not going to be a winning strategy for this election. Newt is like Sara Palin in that he seems to have an innate talent for dealing with the Obama media and it's smears and lies and turning these dirty tricks against them.
Newt has a few negatives for sure, but this ability to stand up to the lies smear and dirty tricks of the Obama campaign and it's surrogates in the media is going to be vital in what promises to be the meanest and dirtiest campaign in modern history.
This election is going to be all about getting what is left of the middle class to understand that Obama is destroying the middle class to create a permanent welfare class living in a welfare state and getting motivating them to vote for traditional American values and not Obama style ‘change’.
No way can Romney do this. He is targeting the Daily Kos/Huffington Post/DU wing of the Democrat party. The America hating, Marxist/Socialist Democrat left wing Romney is trying to target is never going to vote Republican, ever.
Those down the ballot should be worried about the RNC keeping their word... Don't ask...
They don't see the connection. If "the people" want the "wrong" person, then obviously the people/mass are wrong, and this further proves the eliteness of the elitists.
The GOP playing that same tired old tune- “If we can’t win with the one we’ve anointed, we’ll play the fear card”.
The message has been sent to him and his advisors. We are on his campaign team. Have been answering emails sent to him. Trust me, the message will get out. BTW - thousands and thousands of emails coming in and donations are way, way up. Need all we can get.
I have intention of voting other than Republican all the way down the ticket - preferably Tea Party. Oh, I guess that’s what they’re afraid of. The RINO’s are being put on notice!
The RINO brass trashed tea party candidates across the country in the 2010 elections. The only reason the RINO trash controls the House now is because the Tea Party voted in enough conservative candidates to give the RINO pigs enough new conservative members to take control.
What the RINO thieves are concerned about are the imminent trials that will send a bunch of them and their Rat buddies to prison.
“The sky is falling! The sky is falling!”
The GOP E is a complete and utter joke and disaster.
They whined the same tune with Reagan.
1. They are incompetent enough to think Mittens could beat Obama...even after ObamaCare passed.
2. They play dirtier to defeat conservatives than they do to defeat Leftists like Clinton and Obama.
3. They will pull out every stop to pressure conservative leaders to bolt to Romney and spread scare tactics...just like they attempted to shut down Reagan.
It’s not going to work.
We want a Fighter who will beat RINO Romney and who will take the fight to the radical Left and Obama...and that includes the corrupted 5th Column Media.
Go Newt !
“Before I slammed the mute button - I actually heard Ann Coulter screaming that Newt would lose the General election if he called Obama that Kenyan Socialist.
I heard Coulter on a morning talk show, and she was screeching like a little girl who found a bug in her dolly’s teacup.
Romney! Rah! Rah! Rah! Gingrich! Blah! Blah! Blah! She sounded like a liberal who sticks an electric cement mixer in her ear every morning to scramble her brains.
Whatta drama queen. I hope she enjoys seeing her books shoveled into the dump by the truck load.
Oops I got him mixed for with RS. Altho same applies.
“Newt has a record, and it isnt conservative. You can bury your head in the sand and pretend that he is a conservative.”
1998 was the last year that Gingrich, Paul and Santorum were all in Congress. Gingrichs annual and lifetime ACU ratings were better than both of the others:
(100% = perfect conservative voting record)
100% - Gingrich: Annual 1998 ACU Rating (90% Lifetime Rating as of 1998)
88% - Paul: Annual 1998 ACU Rating (88% Lifetime Rating as of 1998)
84% - Santorum: Annual 1998 ACU Rating (83% Lifetime Rating as of 1998)

Wonder how many “prominent Republicans”..and their “donors”...have their investments with Bain?
Could indeed be a “down-ticket” disaster...but not in the same way most might ....
FUD - Fear Uncertainty Doubt. The elite’s favorite weapon.
Newt also has to bear in mind that the press play chess too. They see he will attack back, so they will try to get him to go too far.
He needs to be careful. He needs to call it ALMOST like it is. He needs to decry the media but not say they are 'Communist friendly' or something like that. Even though we know it's true, the masses aren't as partisan and aren't as keyed-in, and the press would ride him every day on that topic alone.
1998 isn’t the issue. It’s what’s happened to Gingrich since then.
I would have crawled over broken glass to vote for the Newt Gingrich of 1998. Yet as numerous posters have pointed out, he’s gone quite squishy since then.
We had better choices for consistent conservatism that has been more recently displayed, but we chased them all away.
I remember the effect Newt had on the “down ballot” races in 1994.
