After Thursday's debate was over in Charleston, I assumed that Newt had not only survived the Marianne episode, but had benefitted from it. I also figured he would win S.C. and that Santorum would fade as a challenger to him. Everyone I knew who saw the debate reached this same conclusion.
Yet as incredible as it may seem, all day Friday we were treated to multiple reviews from members of the conservative media on how Rick Santorum "won" the Thursday night debate in Charleston and that how this would help him in South Carolina. Dick Morris flatly proclaimed that Santorum did so well he might sweep in and take second from Newt Gingrich. Morris also predicted this would mean a S.C. win and nomination for Mitt Romney.
Terrence Jeffrey also proudly proclaimed a big Santorum win in the debate. On the Rush Limbaugh Show, the host refused to give his analysis, but mentioned multiple times that his personal email caucus was swept by the Pennsylvania Senator. Charles Krauthammer, meanwhile, admitted that Newt won it "in the first three minutes" but that Santorum had a very strong night after that.
And I'm thinking: what debate did these folks watch? Do they not pay attention to the crowd reaction? Do they not know what it indicates?

Ah-Haa! Strategery. The old “Double Bluff”. I just don’t understand why some really do seem to take him seriesly. Hannity seems to hang on his every word. Could it be the not quite as old “Reverse Double Bluff”?
We got screwed twice by the fricking Bushes, once by the Manchurian McCain, and since then even Boehner and McConnell getting into the act. Enough.
Character does matter. Correct me if I am wrong, but all this crap was 15+ years ago. Mr. Newt went to and received forgiveness from his God, and his family. Mr. Newt is happily married now, and has returned to his God and faith. Mr. Newt and Colista are apparently involved in many projects having to do with Conservative principles. The past is in the past...not one of the other candidates has that “thing” that sets the crowd on fire. I can't describe “it,” but Mr. Newt has “it,” and Ms. Sarah had
“it.”
As Christians, how well could you fend off questions and inquiries into your lives, defend your values, and defend your country, all in the public eye like Mr. Newt? This is the new and improved Mr. Newt. We must give him the benefit of the doubt. Watch and see just how many of the Republican establishment are coming unhinged at the thought of Mr. Newt as their nominee chosen by WE THE PEOPLE? That in itself should tell you that WE THE PEOPLE have chosen our leader.
It is a NEWT Revolution! Get on board! 2012 for Mr. Newt!
Nailed it! Absolutely nailed it!
I was one of those who got up on my feet and punched the air whooping when Newt b!tchslapped King for that insane question. Yes, we are fed to the TEETH with all the labels denigrating us while all our values that make this country great are being destroyed.
Great article!
Everyone I know knew it as well. In fact, we were calling eachother the next day and ROARING!
Outstanding!
YES, and they tell us that every morning, noon, & night.
Is that Gen./Pres. Grant, or is it Gen. Sherman? You’d think I’d know, but I can’t tell! That looks like Sherman. On my Dad’s side, I am related to Gen. Sherman, and I can usually see the family resemblance in some of his portraits.
It’s U.S. Grant
PING!
Yeah, you’re right, thanks! I was curious. Grant looked younger then, than when he was Pres.!
Ignore his predictions. Listen for the throwaway lines—that’s where his political savvy shines through.
Thank you for that “nice guy in over his head” comment. That is one of two things when people say it: Republican/conservative denial, or Dem propaganda.
I went to a conservative meetup the other night and the leader of the group described Obama as “incompetent” and “do-nothing.” No.
And he is not the worst president since Carter, as someone said on FR last night: he is the only president ever to hate America and to set about destroying it. That sounds extreme to many people but it is the truth.
You’re right. I think it’s because they don’t really understand where he came from, the socialist doctrine he was raised on- i.e. Alinsky. Most folks don’t look into it that deeply, so they assume he’s just a politician-as-usual. In fact, he is the most radical leftist we’ve ever had, who saw his chance to finally fast forward the leftist agenda to “fundamental change” of this country, which the socialists have been pushing incrementally for most of the last century. He thought he had a mandate, but a lot of people who voted for him didn’t understand it either, what he wanted to do, and so have turned on him, thank God. There was a great piece in the American Thinker yesterday about why Gingrich has taken off, and how the “mainstream” pundits don’t get it. They drastically underestimate the HUGE backlash that is coming in November. We have had years and years of this crap shoved down our throats, and we are sick of it...As I told my wishy-washy boyfriend just now, now is not the time for a polite, polished, go-along-to-get-along leader (like Romney)...we are at war, and have serious business to attend to, like undoing all the crap that Obama has done. It’s going to take decades, but we need someone with the clear vision of what is needed, the ability to articulate it, and the will to begin the process. Romney is not that person. Gingrich, for all his flaws, I believe is. Our task is to try and educate people who think it’s business as usual.
LOL - I just realized the article I referred to was the original reason for this thread - duh - more coffee please!!!
Shows your brain is connecting the dots just fine!
