Mitt Romney just cant close the deal.
Twelve days ago, Mitt was the toast of the GOP. This morning hes just toast.
Twelve days ago, hed won a historic two in a row Iowa and New Hampshire and he had a double-digit lead in South Carolina.
Now it turns out Mitt didnt even win Iowa.
Mitt had the governor of South Carolina with him, but Newt Gingrich had the two real power brokers Juan Williams of Fox News and, more importantly, John King of CNN. Those were his foils in the two South Carolina debates.
Two minutes into the two-hour Thursday night debate on CNN, Gingrich had won the primary. And the reporter who threw Newt the hanging curve, John King, is from Massachusetts. Thats the kind of week its been for Mitt.
On the message boards, theyre calling him Mittens again, or Myth.
A little more than a week ago, there were rumors that Gingrich might pull out of the fight and throw his support behind Rick Santorum. A few days later, Newt was demanding that Santorum get out.
Mitts still got an 18-point lead in Florida, or did before last nights Newt landslide. But hes got to learn to lie better in these debates. That lame story of his about why he didnt run for re-election in Massachusetts in 2006 was bad enough, but on the question of releasing his income tax returns, he squirmed like a gaffed fish. He was drowning in flop sweat.

That’s one deadly Dudley allusion.
I wouldn’t count anyone but Ron Paul out at this point. After all the delegate count spread among Romney, Gingrich, and Santorum is only about 7.
Hey SmithL, get over your binge and read the news, Kensian Jr lost Iowa.
I guess I wouldn’t have known that, except I took the time to read the 4th line of the article. But thanks for sharing that.

Burnt Toast...
Mitt is still the toast of the GOP establishment. This is going to be a very long primary season.
I'll go soak my head in a cup of coffee now.
Genuine Naugahyde....
If Willard hadn’t just started sprouting Conservative memes to try to outdo Newtie’s quick shift to pandering to the right, He’d be a lot more believable.
Romney never wore a uniform. Just sayin’.
“Mitt is still the toast of the GOP establishment. This is going to be a very long primary season.”
True, but ultimately the GOP establishment is going the way of the Politburo - a similar organization.
I think Mitt is too honest, too morale, to stand up to either the media or Obama.
He is also too unprepared for a man who has had 6 years to prepare for simple, expected qustions.
Obama is going to run and debate using lies, lies, and more lies. Mitt will not know how to handle this, and will probably take the high road and ignore the lies, which will make him look out of touch (which he is) and will lose the election.
Santorum would make a better Dudley DoRight. Dudley was a good guy.
Now we need Santorum to drop out and endorse Gingrich and the deal will be closed. Naturally the legacy media will be storing October surprises for Gingrich and presenting them right up through election day. But they would have done the same for Romney, after all. Must protect their boy in the White House, musn’t they!
He's always just been milquetoast.
I'm not so sure. Simply because I have to imagine that Ron Paul's supporters, like a great glob of greasy gristle would clot around their next favorite clown, romney.
It might be to our benefit to keep him in. For example, we all saw how they tried to dismiss him entirely during the debates. He was even denied closing remarks on the last one as I recall. Not short of a GTFO from the media...
The headline is hysterically funny.
