Israeli officials told visiting USS Chief Joint of Staffs Martin Dempsey that it would give President Barack Obama no more than 12 hours notice if and when it attacks Iran, The London Times reported Sunday.

The Netanyahu government also will not coordinate with the United States an attack on the Islamic Republic, according to the report, the latest in a number of suposed scenarios concerning cooperation or lack of it between Jerusalem and Washington.

I'm confused. Obviously, Israel knows that Obama has radical associations and has an antisemitic streak. Why give notice when that could mean the Iranians will be warned? Ah, maybe, because their attack will be that effective and they want to minimize casualties?

I agree ... but I think the MILITARY will be given a wink and a nod a little earlier. Enough to let them know what's up, but not enough to make it so plain that the US military could be held responsible for telling the White House. Israel knows who it's friends are. And none of them are sitting in the White House. But the military is probably a different matter.
