SummaryIn 2009, Congressman Gingrich supported a candidate for a special election for the 23rd district in New York that was pro-choice, pro gay marriage and supportive of numerous other items that most Republicans opposes. A more conservative candidate was available, but did not win a primary that consisted of a vote by 11 district members and not a public vote.
Congressman Gingrich came out in suppport for Mrs Scozzafava as she was the selected candidate for the Republican party. He asserted that many of her principles were in line with the Republican party. He appeared on numerous radio shows to defend his support for her.
As the special election neared, Mrs Scozzafava was trailing the Conservative Party candidate Hoffman. She dropped out of the race to prevent from splitting the vote, but threw her support behind the Democrat instead of the Conservative.
After the election, Congressman Gingrich stated that the Scozzafava candidacy was indeed a mistake that never should have happened.
The special election for the 23rd Congressional District is an important test leading up to the mid-term 2010 elections. Our best chance to put responsible and principled leaders in Washington starts here, with Dede Scozzafava.
The Republican Revolution in 1994 started very much like what we see today. Like then, our country is reeling from misguided liberal policies, high taxes and out-of-control spending. This special election in New Yorks 23rd Congressional District could be the first
... more election of the new Republican Revolution, but we need the momentum to get it started
Book Signing
Congressman Gingrich was confronted at a book signing concerning his support for Dede Scozzafava.
He responded by noting that she was the nominee picked by the local representatives, and that she supported a number of conservative ideals and principles.
Newt Gingrich vs his book "To Try Men's Souls"
Both Laura Ingraham and Hannity interviews on this happening was pulled by them.
Rubio. His parents were not citizens when he was born. Need to have a squeaky clean NBC for a VP.
Nohhhhh!
Not Resty!
She’s a good girl.
oh well.
Resty and Sandy:
If you are reading this, please petition the boss to get back on the board.
I like you both even if you mostly make no sense to me.
I’m pretty sure if we met I’d instantly like you.
However, MuttBoy is totally insane as a subject matter. I Do Not Care for His Politics and LDS friends need to look past your collective lust for power and decide if you want an American Friend or Religous Foe.
The problem is his supporters are a specific block and that is LDS members only.
I’d no more vote for Gore or Huckabee because they are Baptists, as I am.
I am looking for someone to execute what is important to me and their religion is mostly irrelevant to me.
Hey hey hey!

Gingrich says Allen West would be considered as his running mate
Tea Party Brief/The Daily Caller ^ | 1/21/2012
If I meant to use the word mandate, I would have used that word. The word “referendum” does not necessarily mean a landslide. In all of those elections people were voting for or against, basically, the status quo. I didn’t say that each election would be a landslide one way or another.Obviously, Some elections are closer than others.
And regarding the one landslide you mentioned, do you really think any of the Republican candidates would have beaten the successor to the martyred JFK? Dream on.
And by the way, don’t forget that Gore won the popular vote. Bush was very, very lucky to have won that election.
They were hard zots for me as well. :(
IATZ
Oh... my....
I really am sad she got zot.
I liked her even if she took me task morally and spiritually.
She’s a good girl and so is Sandy.
Not using their noggins to reason out their choice is fine so long as they aren’t personal or beyond the pale.
then again, it looks like they are now beyond Free Republic Borne....
I saw SD earlier. Who else?
Al Gore would have slaughtered Alan Keyes. George Bush defeated him.
Jimmy Carter would have slaughtered Harold Stassen or John Anderson. Ronald Reagan trounced Carter soundly.
Gerald Ford would have trounced Governor Moonbeam. Jimmy Carter squeaked by.
Your statement,
I think the odds on beating Obama wont be affected that much by who the Republican candidate is
is ignorant and dead-wrong.
Flaglady47 got the zot on Friday.
There are no primaries for special elections. The Republican PArty leaders chose Dede Scozzafava over Hoffman, who had the Conservative Party line.
Sandy has been pushing buttons and trying to ride the lightning for awhile now. Here last several posts have all been the same, whining and complaining.
Resty, though, I have no idea what she was thinking posting this.
I will miss them both, we need to remember to pray for them.
We are no longer involved in a primary where we are still vetting and examining candidates, we have already decided on a candidate and are focused on his campaign.
Gingrich has two campaigns to run, first, replace Romney, then replace Obama.
We don’t need to list and discuss his imperfections at this point, we need to give him all the help that we can.
Well said. I sent another donation tonight.
Where did Saundra get the zot?
Why did you ping holdonnow? He’s not a Romney supporter.
The last breath of a dying man/woman?
Out with a pfft.
“I think the odds on beating Obama wont be affected that much by who the Republican candidate is”
Why do you think that?
