Rival parties to mix it up – nicely – at State of the Union (will sit together again!)

Reporting from Washington - Like an estranged married couple trying to reignite the spark, lawmakers again will pair off in bipartisan couplets at the president's State of the Union speech on Tuesday - making another show of goodwill after a year of bad blood.

As of Friday more than 160 members of Congress had agreed to mix it up in the House chamber for the Tuesday speech, eschewing the traditional seating chart: Democrats to the left of the rostrum, Republicans on the right.

The spectacle of bipartisan co-mingling at last year's speech was striking. Gone was the visual of half the room rising to applaud the president while the other side sat in disapproval. Instead, observers saw lawmakers jumping to their feet while their seat mates sat still - a somewhat more awkward scene.

Here we have an election year, when Republicans should stand TOGETHER and make a stark contrast between their growth agenda, vs Obama’s socialist agenda that he is pushing in the SOTU — and they sit together with the Dems, blunting this distinction. They are their own worst enemy. Doesn’t any of them have two brain cells to rub together and figure this out?!

I was hoping that “Mix It Up” meant we would see some fist
fighting like they do in other countries that would actually make me want to watch Zero and his constant blathering

The Washingtonians are completely out of touch with the country, especially the leadership on both sides.

Newt will put a stop to all of this feel good BS, about time too.

Who is making this decision. The end result is that people don’t see who are cheering Obama’s speech and those who are not.

Make note of those that do, and vote them out of office!

I have no respect at all for any elected official who sides with the Democrats, and will vote against anyone who does!

The are vermin, and must be eradicated!

This is not only an epic display of theater of the absurd, it demonstrates CLEARLY that they are ALL screwing eachother figuratively AND LITERALLY, and don’t give a tinkers damn about their constituents.....
It is a den of whores and thieves..and spinless pussies.
DO they TRULY think “Hey, lets sit together and pretend we all get along, OK?” is fooling anyone? We ALL know they are ALL in bed together! DAMN the lot of them!

Once again proving that George Wallace was right when he said “there is not a dimes worth of difference between the parties.”

If we ever figure out that they are not the stooped ones, we are, then we can begin to heal the land.

“Make note of those that do, and vote them out of office!’

I agree, but we need to focus on priorities — when our house is burning down, let’s put out the fire first, then work on remodeling it.

By trying to defeat RINOs we ended up with some unelectable Republican candidates, who lost to the Dems, that’s why the Dems still control the Senate.

Let’s focus on electing the most conservative ELECTABLE Senators and Representative to have majorities in both Houses of Congress, then we can pick off the RINOs without jeopardizing the GOP majority. It’s “strategery”, as Bush would call it.

My thoughts exactly. There is no difference between the parties anyway, so why not sit together.

Ya Republicans lost their minds.

Can we tell them that the Tucson tragedy was last year. Condolences still go out to the families of the killed and injured. HOWEVER, we know that Tucson was NOT due to political incivility, or Sarah Palin targets on congressional district maps.

We do not need to make a show of getting along due to Tucson. The Tucson shooting was just three weeks prior to last year’s State of the Union, and fresh in everyone’s mind. We don’t need to commemorate it again, especially since we now know in retrospect that the shooter was NOT inspired by political rhetoric.

Somehow, I think that's going to change before the actual event. I'm probably wrong, I just have a feeling that there will be another deliberate bird finger to the Republicans now that they're saying they'll play nice. Widdle Barry does it every time and some surprising folks are ticked off by him playing that game, or so I hear.

Whatever, Republicans sitting with democrat fascists is stupid, so maybe I'm trying to avert my eyes from yet another example of how stupid Republicans can be sometimes.

Why doesn’t the Republican party just make it official: disband and join the liberal Dems?
