So this is why I like Newt:
He's very bright and he's gutsy.
He's had a very good week -- with Juan Williams and John King -- both of whom ought to find other lines of work; but I digress.
Newt is more than bright -- in my opinion, he has one of the best public minds in this country since Thomas Jefferson; and he's creative.
Isn't that what we want in government? The opposite of dullards? Non-thinking bureaucrats who know nothing and do nothing?
And he has certainly proved himself to be gutsy. And again -- isn't that what we want in government? Someone who is bold; someone who thinks WAY outside the box; someone who knows HISTORY who can use those historical contexts as guideposts in governing.
Sure, he's far from perfect, but put him next to Romney -- it's a no-brainer for me.
Newt is seriously the smartest politician alive in my opinion, and we need just such a man in perilous times like this.
Well, I guess you could call this adventure from 2009 “bold”.
Don’t shoot the messenger here, but here’s an example of what I consider Newt’s baggage, and yes, it does make me squirm.

No brainer, indeed.
Newt is the only politician on the planet who is not allowed to have made friends, made enemies, been unfaithful, raised two wonderful daughters, changed churches, spoken up, stayed silent, listened, looked, studied, criticized, praised, asked questions, given answers, caused confusion, solved problems, started debates, ended stalemate, shut down the government, reduced taxes, reduced spending, won election, resigned from office, written books, read books, recommended books, learned stuff, taught stuff, raised funds, spent his own money, admired others, disapproved of others, been funny, been serious, been argumentative, been conciliatory and God forbid - been human.
Yup.
The MSM shot their wad, and it backfired BIG.
Now Newt is on a roll. He may be unstoppable.
That’s a good thing, for the GOP and for America.
Newt has a well thought answer for every question asked of him. The only time he was stumped, to the best of my knowledge, was when Romney mentioned at the debate, that Newt was only mentioned once in the Reagan Papers.
His mind does hearken back to the founding fathers. I hate that people see some things as daft and consider that a reason to discount him. It has been too long since this country has been lead by a man with big ideas.
People on opposite ends can praise people on the other side...doesn’t make them evil. It doesn’t mean he agrees with him on everything.
That makes me nervous, too. But I think Newt is mad and won’t compromise himself in that manner any more. He’s in “Tell it like it is and to hell with progressive B S “ mode now.
Newt is the MAN for the job of POTUS!
I wonder what modern Republicans think of Ben Franklin and Noah Webster...?
I don’t know why this would make you squirm. Newt is famous... or infamous... for working with many people on many levels. I am happy to see him not just toe an ideological line. Sorry, I have no problem with this clip.
Well said.
You are far more forgiving than I.
Seeing Gingrich arm in arm with Al Sharpton just doesn't sit well with me.
Also -- his back-and-forth with John King -- was absolutely out of the park.
AND he touched a nerve among conservatives that goes VERY deep by shining a light on the MSM for their OUTRAGEOUS double standard that has been going on for DECADES.
Because he’s gutzy? Wilson was gutzy. LBJ was gutzy. Teddy Roosevelt was gutzy. And all three were progressives.
Having the nerve to tell the press to go to hell, does not mean a person is going to govern from the Right. Im not crazy about any of the candidates running or those who have already dropped out, but Good God! this nation is in serious trouble. I want to know who is going to fix this mess and how they plan to do it. I’m not hearing that from any of them.
Do I think that Newt has a chance of beating Obama in November? No, I don't. I think if he goes head to head against Obama, it will crash and burn. Whom Newt needs to go against is Harry Reid, and the liberals in all parties. He needs to stand up on his experience and be blunt. ‘Absolutely I know how Congress cheats, sneaking in things in bills, and I've no problem sitting there and vetoing bill after bill until they stop.’
It isn't Obamacare, it's Pelosi-scam. Her and Harry Reid put together a bill which they didn't let anyone really see, demanded votes, then used every parliamentary trick in the book to squeeze it on past. Obama made a couple speeches, but I doubt he had the slightest clue as to what he signed.
We'll see where the chips land tonight - I honestly think that a lot of Democrats are going to come out in droves and vote to support Romney and Paul, with the conservative vote split between Rick and Newt. And the same thing is going to happen in Florida, with the lamestream press crowing about how moderates are fighting to take back their party, and how now all parts of the US are united in saying no to extremists.
But really, we've got four years to fix this disaster before it happens again. These early primaries MUST be closed. Either that, or knock out these liberal early primaries completely.
So they agree on education, why does that make you squirm? Is it because he is standing next to Sharpton? Or because he is promoting education?
I like him because he’s a white guy named Leroy.
