The winner of the South Carolina primary has gone on to be the Republican presidential nominee for 30 straight years and that could be bad news for Mitt Romney, who suddenly finds himself in a real battle with Newt Gingrich in Saturday's vote.
Polls suggest support for the former House speaker has surged since his fiery performance in Thursday night's candidates' debate, giving him a slight lead over the former Massachusetts governor and a good chance of grabbing all 25 of the states delegates.
The two other candidates former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum and Texas congressman Ron Paul appear to have stalled in the polls and are not expected to have much of a showing
On Friday, the Romney camp was downplaying talk of victory, instead emphasizing that their candidate has performed beyond expectations in the conservative state where he finished a distant fourth four years ago. Nevertheless, a loss would come as a blow to Romney, who seemed to have great momentum following his victory in the New Hampshire primary.

Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dee say "You must vote for Mitt Rom-nee"
Interesting question.......A recent survey of L. Ron Paul supporters are considered to be disgruntled Obama voters, who supported the Marxist in ‘08. They make up nearly 10% of Paul's support. They are all under 35, are College grads, in College, or they are part of the OWS idiots. And they are all very Liberal. Extremely so.
Of course, the usual 3% hard core Liberalterian, dope smoking sycophants who skulk around this forum are also part of the Paul cult. These people have gone so far to the right, that they came back out on the Left. Sort of like the Buchanan crowd from the Clinton years.
Go Newt! Shut the RINO down!
She looks familiar.... Isn’t she on GOProud’s advisory board?
Now if South Carolina doesn’t cook up the “special sauce” to add to their count like Iowa, we could have us a real election here.
"I bet you $10,000 that my utterly
mindless servant, here, supports RomneyCARE, deathpanels,
my coverup of the BIG DIG, my backstabbing,
my imposition of gay marriage by Executive Authority,
and, of course, my love for offshore investments."
So, the question becomes....... how much money does Rick have?
Does he have the money to go effectively continue?
If Newt wins SC, Santorum will drop like a rock into Perry territory. Romney will be trounced again and his usual “stuck on 24%” numbers will become the norm again. While Newt gains the over 30% category again.
Did you know that Mitt’s Dad was running for President against Nixon? Oh and by the way ........ He was born in MEXICO!!!
Heard three 20 somethings Paulistas on FN this morning -
Megan, Pericles (!) and a third gal whose name I forget
They mentioned limited gov'r, The Constitution and non-intervention.
What they did not mention is drug legalization, which I think is the greatest attraction to skulls full of mush.
Yeah, sure; he's also been on target with the "truth" about 911 being an inside job!
Newt has a far better handle on how to fix the financial mess as well as the economy than you hero, NUT JOB RUN Paul.
Paul belongs in a home for mental patients. He is on the edge of a complete melt down and should not even be in Congress any longer.
(He loves his little Liberal Munchkins who make up most of his Marxist following.)
