SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. A driver drove into a MUNI Metro subway tunnel early Thursday, stalling his SUV about half a mile down the tracks, triggering a mass transit nightmare for San Francisco commuters.
Scott Mitchell, 40, of Sebastapol, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving on train tracks and failure to obey a traffic sign, San Francisco police Officer Albie Esparza said.
Muni spokesman Paul Rose says an SUV entered a tunnel on Church Street shortly after 6 a.m. Thursday and drove eastward almost to the Van Ness Station. The driver stopped when the SUV got stuck in a narrow tunnel.

Maybe he thought he was Jerry, the guy from the insurance commercials with the car up the pole (and through the garage wall).
He just thought he was having tunnel vision and
decided to keep going.
But he arrived on schedule.
LOL...LOVE the Jerry commercials!
Having lived there and ridden on that MUNI line; what a hoot!
Not funny however for the massive disruption it would have caused for commuters.
Kind of scary to think how this could be done with destructive intent.
Muni shouldn`t talk:
``Jun 16, 2008 ... 16 people were injured as two SF Muni trains collided outside AT&T Park. ...
Sixteen people were injured when the trains crashed into each other at 4th ...``
It's not that far from moi, but I haven't been in years and years, and have zero intention of ever returning, ever.
(Recall that Nancy Pelosi hails from there, and these are the fungi that named a sewage plant after President Dubya.)
.
If he ever goes to AA, he’ll have a good drunk story to tell.
Mitchell + San Francisco + Camera = ????
“If he ever goes to AA, hell have a good drunk story to tell.”
That’s funny.
And very true.
The sewage plant thing was on the ballot but lost 70-30.
Nancy Pelosi is from Baltimore, Maryland. Her father was democratic mayor there. And her brother was also mayor. She didn't get to SF until 1969, when a horde of liberals descended on SF. Prior to the mid-1960s, SF was rock-solid Republican, from before WWI. Liberalism is a disease that is everywhere!
