CHARLESTON, S.C. The Daily Caller has learned that 100 tea party leaders from 25 states will announce Thursday that they are supporting Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and will form a coalition called Tea Partiers With Newt.
The news comes as signs appear that tea partiers here in South Carolina, which holds a primary Saturday, may be coalescing around Gingrich.
My sense is there is a growing coalition behind Newt Gingrich, Joe Dugan, who leads the states chapter of Tea Party Patriots, told TheDC.
A news release that will go out Thursday from the Gingrich campaign says the coalition will help elect Newt and defeat Massachusetts Moderate Mitt Romney and then President Barack Obama.

victory or death.
Can’t wait for CNN to claim terrorists are fronting Newt. You know they will.
Good for them, someone’s showing some desire to beat the anointed one, our muslim-in-chief.
Who'd a thought.
hell no,no newt,no romney,,,maybe santorum,,
Oh, but I thought the Tea Partiers were all supporting Romney now because of his phenomenal 51 point plan and his teetotaling caffeine-free monogamy. I was told tha I was a lonely dead-ender clinging bitterly to my conservative principles. I have been grossly misled.
The glaring problem, of course, is that Newt Gingrich is not exactly standard Tea Party fare. In fact, if youd told anyone in the movement a year ago that there would be a groundswell of support for him now the laughter would have punctured your eardrums.

They aren’t endorsing Big Green Government Gingrich for anyone but themselves, whoever they are.
Santorum will most likely endorse Romney if he drops out.
Much the same way Herman Cain had from the beginning I mean really the guy suspended his campaign to go on a book signing tour
there are a lot of things not to like about Newt ... he's likely a big government progressive but he is far better than Romney
and it's high time the GOP stopped running candidates against the will of the base - just because it's 'their turn'
the entire party, delegate and nomination process is designed to give the entrenched party hacks a grand advantage over the rank and file
look what Bohner and Co have done to the newbies elected by the Tea Party groups
We've just cast our early ballots for Newt here in Florida
.... and more importantly and pragmatically ... Jim Robinson has endorsed Newt today
.
Tea Party people might be able to keep Newt on a very short leash...
If I vote in the primary at all it will probably be for Romney over Gingrich if Santorum isn’t available.
Better a disliked moderate facing an angry electorate than a lying big government greentard with a slack jawed following who will happily follow him off a cliff.
Newt may not be “standard Tea Party fare”, but he IS more conservative than Romney and he remains the ONLY candidate capable of beating George Soros’ hitman and left-wing media darling, Barack Obama.
Santorum is weak and big government. He is dull, and whines like a girl when in a pinch. Romney is a plastic doll and will betray us in a heart beat. Newt is a futurist with all kinds of big and bad ideas... but he’s an individualist who fundamentally will not go against our core principles, though we will have to fight him on his compassionate amnesty and any other bright ideas.
There is no one else. Newt’s the one. We must back him and get behind him or it’s Obama or Romney, both of whom will kill the country.
I'm not surprized. Never was. As for me, I'd mostl likely stay home before I'd vote for Romney. I live in New England and know who he is and what he is NOT.
Romney is a pro-abortion, anti-gun liberal who had voted for liberal democrats many times and as governor of Mass nominated liberal judges who in return ruled gay marriage to be legit.
Now you go and vote for that if that's your man.
He's not mine. No thank you
Newt is portrayed portrayed as a small government conservative but his solutions all seem to include government/taxpayer dollars. He says he will abolish the EPA but wants to replace it with an Environmental Solutions Agency which will “incentivze” energy and things like flex fuel vehicles. If they need incentives to survive, they’re free market failures.
He says he will defund planned Parenthood and give the money to adoption services. I don’t want to fund planned parenthood but I don’t want to be forced to fund adoption either What’s next? Are we going to defund the department of education and give the money to private schools?
To me, small government means leaving more money in the private sector, not taxpayer funding of things I like.
That’s what I’m talking about palin, Jim, and now a large # of tea party leader types. The establishment heads MUST be exploding where’s the popcorn!
I have been a 100% supporter of the Tea PArty philosophy from day one ---- but
As a supporter I acknowlege no leaders. To have "leaders," there must be followers.
I realize that megalomaniacal personalities can declare themselves leader of anything, but no other Tea Party supporter I know is among them.
Helping to organize rallies and events does not make them leaders, it makes them effective workers, and perhaps spokesmen for the philosophy.
As soon as they claim to represent me, to speak for me, to pick a candidate for me, they can go back home.
If I vote for Newt, it will be because I consider him the best compromise to stand on principle, not for any other reason. "Beating" Obama with a Republican clone is a stupid excuse to claim any kind of "victory."
Radical changes have been made in the last three years, and only immediate radical reversals can set things right.
Ten years down the road just ain't gonna hack it.
