And if anyone believes ABC was having a debate over ethics, Ive got a bridge to sell you ;-)

Yeah, when I saw that headline earlier today, I remember thinking that “ABC” and “ethics” in the same sentence —> cognitive dissonance.

Curry interjects — I'm asking you Newt Gingrich, I'm asking you Newt Gingrich the nature you are characterizing president Obama as a food stamp president?
Gingrich - I'm trying to make a point to you which is, when conservatives care about the poor, and conservatives offer ideas about to help the poor, and conservatives suggest that the poor would rather have a paycheck than a food stamp, the very liberals who have failed them at places, like places like the New York Times promptly scream racism because they have no defense for the failure of liberal institutions, which have trapped poor children in bad schools and have trapped them in bad neighborhoods. Liberal solutions have failed.
Curry - Alright lets move on...

I think they lean Romney. Faux News puts more and more of their columnist on air, and that tends to make one mainstream.

Please link me to the post I made where I stated Gingrich was just like Clinton.
If you'll note in the post the Future Snake Eater, I clearly defined in which way I thought Gingrich was like Clinton.
I did not make the case that he was in all ways like Clinton, and took measures to avoid it.
Gingrich like Clinton? Anybody seen a Gingrich Body Count list?
No.
Dont let liars define the terms of the argument. Youll lose every time.
I'm not. I responded to you on point.
Accept nothing. Challenge everything. Youll be surprised.
I won't. I did. I am not all that surprised.

Newt loses ground when he attacks his opponents. Blew his surge by doing so, in fact.
But he GAINS traction when he blasts the MSM and/or Obummer. We love seeing those two crucified, early and often.
Learn from your experiences and profit from the lesson, Newt.

Ive said many, many times that Newt has baggage. Some of the things hes done are indefenseable. He is gonna have to sell himself to the public and let them weigh what he has done against what kind of man people think he is today. Evidently you have made ur and decision and I respect that.
My point right now is that Newt is not a person I want to face having to vote for in November 2012. I'm honestly not convinced he isn't another RINO that will serve to destroy our brand for another four year term in Washington, D. C. That is a serious concern of mine.
Character does matter, that is one of the things people will have to weigh for themselves.
I agree.
True there a some similarities between the Bill and Newt but there are also some major differeces.
I agree with that. I've not tried to make the case Newt is Bill Clinton. I have merely made the case that if I am going to trash someone else for doing things like Newt did, then I have to be even handed when I discuss the merits of him doing them.
Newt has been contrite, has asked for forgiveness, and given his life to Christ, that means a lot some us. Does that make him perfect? No...! It makes him human.
Okay, then if a person commits armed robery, would you ask a judge to absolve him completely if he was contrite, asked for forgiveness, and had given his life to Christ? If so we wouldn't have any prisoners in our prisons.
Obviously, Newt's infraction was not a legal matter. None the less, there are negative consequences to our actions. You commit armed robbery, you're going to jail. You display immoral behavior, and some folks are going to remember it. It may cost you. I can't say that is wrong.
Clinton was never contrite. He fought, lied, and denied the things he had done to the very end. The man even lied under oath.
All true. And every bit of it not raised by me in a comparison of Newt to Clinton.
None of us is morally pure and neither is Newt. If you are looking for that perfect, moral candidate, youll never find him on this side of heaven. Thats life and thats all we have.
Okay then we can't find any candidates on our side of the isle who haven't cheated on their wives. /s Seriously, I don't think my standards are all that rigid.
If a guy cannot be faithful to his wives, why should I accept the tenet that he will definitely be faithful to our cause?
I appreiciate the discussion. I understand where you are coming from. It is my intention to get folks to honest with themselves.
Let me ask you this. If you were looking for a new spouse, would it matter to you if a woman had cheated on her two husbands?

I don’t know what happened behind closed doors (and don’t want to). I do know that both parties are responsible for their marriage. It’s rarely just one side to blame.
I don’t think Newt would do what Bill did in the Oval Office. I don’t think Bill or Obama (60’s hippies) have any respect for the office.
But honestly, at this point in time. I don’t care if Newt is married to his sister.
People are hurting, good people, people I know. Marriages are being destroyed, families are being destroyed. Someone has to put this country back on track. Pronto.
Mitt will be just status quo with some window dressing. We can’t afford that. Four more of Obama and we’re gone.

That’s certainly within your right, but the pickins are getting mighty slim right about now.
I admire Newt’s learnedness and communication abilities, and, while his baggage is significant, he may be our best bet.
Santorum could be better than Newt, but his backing of “SOPA-like” legislation and claiming that supporting anti-2A measures b/c “the NRA supported them” are pretty significant weaknesses.
That leaves Romney (no thanks) and Paul (Allah Akhbar!). It sucks, but it’s simply the reality of our current situation.
To: GourmetDan
Assuming you have it right here, I’d say there’s at least a 50/50 chance of it.
I believe there are consequences to the things we do in life. That is why I am a registered Republican rather than a registered Democrat.

Yes they do. Not all of them screw up in the same manner. Many screw up with regard to lesser things.
They fall down. They disappoint us and occasionally break our hearts.
At one time I had a lot of respect for Newt. I have spent the better part of fifteen years explaining to folks it was Senator Bob Dole who went out and betrayed Newt, Republicans, and Conservatives by undercutting our postion on the government "shut-down" of the 1990s. It was Dole that cost us that victory. It was Dole that let Clinton know he could prevail over Republicans if he played hard ball. It changed the relationship Clinton had with Congress forever.
Some of them take our hands and change our lives forever. And some of them "love bomb" us while throwing rocks at other women.
But, I never met a perfect one which is why I continue to take applications.
As well you should. The question is, what applications should you accept for the position we're talking about?
This is a farily top level position.
There are some positions that Newt wouldn't have a prayer of obtaining with his record.

I am sympathetic to your comments. I am still not convinced that Newt is the way to go. We have had one caucus and one primary, and now folks are solidifying around one man in what appears for all the world to be an absolute full blown panic.
I’m not buying it.

I understand that, we all have concerns. Again, I said Newt has baggage and some of the things he has done are stupid, dumb, and indefenseable. But I am also realistic, I think he has the best chance of winning. Evedently, u don’t and that’s ok.
“I agree.”
Thanks.
“True there a some similarities between the Bill and Newt but there are also some major differeces.”
“I agree with that. I’ve not tried to make the case Newt is Bill Clinton. I have merely made the case that if I am going to trash someone else for doing things like Newt did, then I have to be even handed when I discuss the merits of him doing them.”
Couldn’t agree with u more. Newt is a big boy, he will have to sell himself to people like you. He’s got a tough job ahead.
“Newt has been contrite, has asked for forgiveness, and given his life to Christ, that means a lot some us. Does that make him perfect? No...! It makes him human.”
“Okay, then if a person commits armed robery, would you ask a judge to absolve him completely if he was contrite, asked for forgiveness, and had given his life to Christ? If so we wouldn’t have any prisoners in our prisons.”
Forgiveness yes. But they would still have to pay the price for the crime. Look at Newt, he’s paying a heavy price today. He’s being mocked, laughed at, doubted, snickered, shamed, excoriated, etc.. He, his wife, and his children are paying a very heavy price for his flandering ways. What else would you desire him to do, be water boarded? I don’t know about you but I got a lot of skeletons in my closet and I’d be very, very ashamed if they got out and became public knowledge.
I don’t feel sorry for Newt, he brought this on himself. He made this bed, he’ll have to sleep in it. But still, when I weigh what I know about him against what I think our country needs today, I come down on the side of Newt. I just think he can provide the type of leadership and fighting spirit our country needs at this time.
Running for president “ain’t” for the weak of heart.
“Obviously, Newt’s infraction was not a legal matter. None the less, there are negative consequences to our actions. You commit armed robbery, you’re going to jail. You display immoral behavior, and some folks are going to remember it. It may cost you. I can’t say that is wrong.”
As I said, he’s paying a heavy price today. Look at the questions ur asking about him in ur mind. I understand ur doubt and apprehension.
“Clinton was never contrite. He fought, lied, and denied the things he had done to the very end. The man even lied under oath.”
“All true. And every bit of it not raised by me in a comparison of Newt to Clinton.”
I know. I was using it as a comparsion.
“None of us is morally pure and neither is Newt. If you are looking for that perfect, moral candidate, youll never find him on this side of heaven. Thats life and thats all we have.”
“Okay then we can’t find any candidates on our side of the isle who haven’t cheated on their wives. /s Seriously, I don’t think my standards are all that rigid.”
I know nothing about the sex lives of the other candidates. Again, you’ll have to do some soul searching and weighing on ur own.
“If a guy cannot be faithful to his wives, why should I accept the tenet that he will definitely be faithful to our cause?”
Again, you have some judgements to make..! You will have to take measure to the man and see how he sifts out.
“I appreiciate the discussion. I understand where you are coming from. It is my intention to get folks to honest with themselves.”
I too have enjoyed bandying words with you.
“Let me ask you this. If you were looking for a new spouse, would it matter to you if a woman had cheated on her two husbands?”
Ofcourse it would, I said earlier people are gonna have to weigh for themselves what they know about Newt and how they feel about him now.
Could I possibly marry that woman if I knew she had changed? Sure I could. What part of forgiveness do you not understand? People do change. One of the finest, most faithful christian women that I know today, at one time, sleep with and broke up more than one marriage. She is what many of us called and still call a harlet. She gave her life to Jesus Christ and has never looked back. She cannot change the past, she looks forward to Jesus. I am NO judge.
Enjoy ur evening and the debates tonight. They should be interesting.

I agree. The next few debates should be rather interesting. These guys need to out Paul for who he is. Trash Obama unmercifully, and go at each other in earnest. I don't see any reason for them to be nice to each other. Obama sure isn't going to be.
I admire Newts learnedness and communication abilities, and, while his baggage is significant, he may be our best bet.
I admire his learnedness and communications skills also. If the guy hadn't stood in for Al Gore with Nancy Pelosi, I would be a lot further along toward supporting him. I've mentioned my other problem with him, no need to beat a dead horse on that point.
Santorum could be better than Newt, but his backing of SOPA-like legislation and claiming that supporting anti-2A measures b/c the NRA supported them are pretty significant weaknesses.
I'm sorry, but you lost me at "SOPA-like". As for the anti-2A measures, I'd have to know more about it to agree. I am a staunch supporter of Second Ammendment rights. Truth be told, I'm not a big fan of the NRA. I don't think they fulfill their mandate well enough. I know there are folks out there that disagree with me, but there are time when I want to pull my hair out after watching their actions or the lack there-of.
That leaves Romney (no thanks) and Paul (Allah Akhbar!). It sucks, but its simply the reality of our current situation.
I did not vote for Bush the first time.
I did not vote for McCain.
I am not above taking a pass on Romney, if that's all the better the Republican party can do.
I will never again be a party to voting for someone like George Bush, a man that all but destroyed the credibiliy of Conservatism, so much so that a man like Obama could win a presidential election.
I do not favor amnesty in any way shape or form. I do not believe global warming is caused by man. I will not cast a vote for a man that believe it is. That man would refuse to approve of gulf drilling, and moving pipelines across our land to increase oil supplies in the U. S. That man would also be inclined to move us out of our current cars, and subsidize the same ones Obama is sold on.
No, Romney will never get my vote.
No, Paul will never get my vote.
Until I get some straight shooting clarification on Newt's take on illegal immigrants and global warming, he's not getting my vote either.
We've got some serious problems in our party right now. I'm done glossing over or sugar-coating them.
I honestly do share your consternation here.
