Mark Wahlberg quickly apologized Wednesday for claiming he would have subdued the 9/11 hijackers.
The "Contraband" star said that had he been on hijacked flight United 93 on Sept. 11, 2001, as originally scheduled, it wouldn't have crashed into a field in Pennsylvania.
Wahlberg was scheduled to fly from New York to Boston on the morning of Sept. 11 on the flight that was hijacked by Al Qaeda terrorists. But he had a change of plans before the fateful date.

Yep, he would have done it on all four aircraft simultaneously.
Mark would have done his duty ... in his pants.
Now that’s a movie I would produce..”Dirk Diggler vs the Terrorists”.
Mark needs to read some Jihad books. Then he will understand until then he is a good looking asshole.
United Flight 93 was bound from Newark to San Francisco. That's a rather roundabout routing for someone destined for Boston.
Chuck Norris is a REAL badass, not a Hollywood wannabe actor.
Kinda goofy thing to say but he has his priorities in place.
I can certainly understand why people are upset over the quote, and it was a really dumb thing to say. But I also think he was making an emotional response as a parent (he talked about being on the plane with his children) and his mouth just moved faster than his brain. All of us would like to believe that, if our children were in a dire situation, we would be strong enough to save them no matter what the odds. I could be wrong, but my gut feeling is that is what happened here.
At any rate, I’m *far* more offended by swine like Rosie O’Donnell and her leftist ilk claiming that terrible day was an inside job or the Rev. Wright’s of the world claiming it was America’s fault because of our “arrogance”.
None of the flights were heading TO Boston.
Very interesting interview with him rabidralph. I did not know he went to Church everyday and spoke so openly about his faith.
Here's an idea, lets go back in time and review all the threads regarding 9/11 and the subsequent posts by FReepers with the same sense of bravado and condemn them too, ok? None of them have come forth to issue an apology........Lets call them out!
Each flight has an origination point. Flight 93 while it may have been routed from Boston to the west coast that day, it could have very well have originated in NY. So in a sense yes Flight 93 FLEW TO Boston as Marky Mark pointed out.
There are connecting flights all over the country. Flying from New York to Boston then to West coast would have been considered a connecting flight in Boston. So yes the flight could have flown from NY to Boston like Marky Mark originally claimed.
For example I get on a flight numbered 1309 originating out of Chicago with a destination of Orlando Florida in mind. On our way we have a stop in Detroit. People get on flight 1309 in Detroit then fly from Detroit to Orlando. So you can see the flight headed TO Detroit then to Orlando. It quite possible could be the same way and the fact that Marky Mark had a ticket with the flight no. 93 TO Boston then bound for the West Coast.
Just because a flight comes from a city does not mean that it did not come a different city in the first place.
Not defending Marky Mark, but some people may be ignorant about how planes travel to multiple cities on a route.
I agree. I think most of us would like to think we would rise to the challenge if it were us. I certainly hope that I could, and I think I could... but that’s a long way from really being there and doing it.
He's just a tool.
Well, I’m glad Marky Mark wasn’t on the flight. If he had died on 9/11, I’d have to stop making fun of him out of respect.
