In what will surely be fodder for his show tonight, a PPP poll released today shows Stephen Colbert beating all of the Republican candidates in favorability, with 36% to Mitt Romney's 35%. But in a race for president, Colbert earns 13% of the vote to Obama's 41% and Romney's 38%. And because Colbert supporters tend to lean towards Obama, a third-party Colbert candidacy would mean he'd hurt the president's chances. Will Romney start funneling money to Americans For A Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow?

Good, this liberal hack should take some votes from Romney...

This is getting out of control, there seems like there could be some way to stop Cobert from running these commercials.
With stories like these, the media in this country reminds me of a ten month old baby reaching into his diaper to play with his poo.
WTF? Is he ACTUALLY doing this? Wouldn’t this fall into some sort of impersonation lawsuit category?
Unfortunately you can’t sue over satire.
Colbert’s Super PAC is running commercials on S. Carolina TV stations.
nbc funded?
Of course he does. Because American politics is nothing more than a POPULARITY CONTEST!
It matters not what your accomplishments are (or are not). If you're on tv and tells jokes & know who was last kicked off the Survivor Island, you'll poll well.
What exactly is his point? I found Colbert funny at one time, but he’s just getting ridiculous now.
The most popular player on a football team is the backup quarterback.
Favor-ability polls are fairly useless. One does not have to like someone to pull the lever for them when it comes down to the lesser of two evils.
It’s the same with polls on Congress. Nobody likes Congress but they sure like their guy. Congress as a whole is in the dumps but as a while is meaningless. It’s a group, each of member of which is voted on separately.
That all said polling seems to be getting more accurate when the question has meaning and it depends on who you follow.
Will he go black face?
Colbert’s Super PAC which he gave to John Stewart has raised money from donors and under the Citizens United decision can run commercials supporting or opposing a candidate.
All it is, is commentary on the Citizens United Decision.
Or just laugh at the antics of a juvenile hack political commentator/comedian.
I prefer the second option.
Actually, this is pretty funny.
Yes, it is.
Did you see the Anti-Mitt Romney commercial?

So, uh, doesn’t the moment that Colbert announce that he is running for President.... does not Comedy Central have to drop his show else offer equal time to the other candidates?
Colbert has not announced, but he did give his PAC to John Stewart.
And no, with Comedy Central being an all cable channel, it would not fall under FCC regulations such as a fairness doctrine.
