A big moment of last night’s debate came when moderator Juan Williams and Newt Gingrich argued over Gingrich’s comments that many have seen as condescending towards blacks. However, Williams really should have been offended due to Gingrich’s incredibly insensitive pronunciation of the word “Juan.” At least, that’s the opinion of Chris Matthews who accused Gingrich of a racial motive in the way he used Williams’ name.

Matthews’ comments came during an appearance on Andrea Mitchell Reports in which he and Mitchell discussed the tone in yesterday’s all white audience. Matthews accused Rick Perry of using terms bordering on “succession” when he talked about the South Carolina people’s “war” with the government. However, the focus was on Gingrich and Williams and particularly Williams’ first name. While Matthews agreed with a lot of what Gingrich said, he argued that this was a coded message to the crowd.
“That use of the name ‘Juan,’ the way he did it. You can’t argue these things. You either see them or you don’t. It’s just the way he did that. I sensed a little applause when he said ‘Let me help you’ when he answered the Juan question. It’s in the eye of the beholder. And, by the way, calling someone a racist is the worst way to get them to stop being racist because everyone gets defensive. … So it’s stupid to say it but, honestly, if you notice it, you sort of ought to blow the whistle. Because there is a dog whistle going on here.”
Matthews isn’t the only one accusing Gingrich of being condescending to WIlliams. Meanwhile, the Right is accusing Williams of race baiting Gingrich.
And so the Circle of Anger continues spinning, forever onward.

The Food Stamp comment is NOT racist!
There are far more whites on food stamps than blacks.
So the accusers are racist for associating food stamps with blacks.
The only acceptable way for a hopelessly insensitive white, male GOP candidate such as Gingrich to address Mr. Williams would be "Senior Guillermo."
That’s what I thought.
But they hate to be confused by facts, don’t they?
I came up with a new word after watching Juan Williams and Newt Gingrich. And now Matthews doubles down. “Raceploitation”
Chrissy has “white guilt” big time. Everything is about race to him.
Of course it’s not racist and Newt handled the question very well. But, as I said, Imus and his side kick were talking it up as racist. They said there were racial undertones in calling the first black president the food stamp president. I’m just telling you what he said. It actually surprised me considering what Imus went through with his Rutgers comments. I’m sorry I ever stuck up for him.
That’s what I’ve noticed too. I used to wonder why Brit never had him fired.
Williams’ doctrinaire liberalism is not only annoying, it is really old hat yet he hangs onto it for dear life in spite of all the strong arguments he hears against it, day after day.
You cant argue these things....
Yes, Chris, precisely why you use racism as an accusation. You truly CAN’T argue anything because, based on facts or logic, ie “argumentation”, you would not have a leg to stand on. So much easier to just revert to playground name-calling, neener, neener, neener.
I haven’t watched this swish in a long, long time. But it wouldn’t surprise me.
I have a better name for Juan but can’t use it.
Doesn’t surprise me that Newt called him Juan. They have both worked at FOX News and probably know each other well enough to be on a first-name basis.
Rats can find racist intent behind any molecule in the universe.
“But you know, you go to South Carolina, not everybody has a driver's license, you're 70 or 80 years old, and you're a black voter, you don't have a driver's license, you don't own a car...”
That's not a racist thing to say?
It may be fact, but if Republicans (Newt) quote facts, he's racist. If Matthews quotes facts, it's not racist.
I keep forgetting how the Politically Correct rules work for Liberals.

Juan was the ONLY black male 'talent' at NPR - yet when he was fired there wasn't a word about racism ( from the left). Liberals are such hypocrites. Joh Stewart should do a skit on this...
newsflash.. The way Newt, Perry, Santorum and Romney breath is racist so they should stop immediately.

“Im sure the dozen or so people watching Chris were impressed by his logic.”
Hard to believe the shrieking, sniveling homosexual has that many viewers.
“Rats can find racist intent behind any molecule in the universe.”
Thats because THEY are racist, and cannot see ANYTHING without the prism of race.
And they can go straight to HELL.
