” - - - the conservatism of Perry (minus the immigration position) -—”
You bring up an interesting point. Perry was doing well until his permissive views on illegal aliens was revealed. I think he knew that his Campaign was over then as he had been on the wrong side of the law for to long, and that knowledge distracted him terribly during his early debates.
Will the GOP have a plank in their platform on how to make America hostile to illegal aliens, or just learn nothing from Perry’s lack of understanding the voters strong opinion on those who are not here legally?
Had Perry done what we have been pleading for him to do in Texas regarding enforcing the laws, and expelling the illegals, Perry would probably be the front runner now.
He wants the border sealed, drug cartels killed off and NO amnesty.
Gov. Perry and Texas have had to realistically deal with the mess wrought on border states by Federal action and inaction. There is no more we can do to alleviate the problem with the Fed's foot on our neck.
Every request is met with silence, scorn or a bandaid. Every legal challenge is met with the US Attorney Gen. and Federal Courts tying the state up in court. Federal immigration laws on the books are ignored and/or become a financial burden on the state and businesses.
Currently our redistricting map here in Texas is tied up in the Supreme Court (this will bump Texas out of the Super Tuesday vote) and our Photo Voter ID Bill is sitting on Eric Holder's desk, awaiting his approval.
