Mitt Romney Responds To Newt Gingrich Calling Him A Liar: ‘I Don’t Know Why He’s So Angry’

On her show today, radio host Laura Ingraham gave Mitt Romney an opportunity to respond to comments made by rival candidate Newt Gingrich this morning on the CBS Early Show. Gingrich, you’ll recall, referred to the former governor as a “liar” and a “Massachusetts moderate” rather than a true conservative.

Mitt Romney’s response was pretty much classic Mitt Romney: “Well, I don’t know why he’s so angry.”

“Well,” said Ingraham, “he’s angry because he sees himself lacerated in commercial after commercial and he gets a 98.6 percent pro-life voting record yet, you know, the Super PAC is trying to say he is like a big squish on abortion. That’s why he’s mad.” Squishy abortions!

Romney remained unruffled, explaining his relationship to the Super PAC in question:

I think he’s mad for a lot of reasons, but I think he is a good guy. I like his wife Callista, wish him well. This will be a long campaign, and you know I think we’re going to plow ahead. By the way, of course the Super PAC that is working for me, I know the people there. Of course I helped raise money for it, but the law says I can’t tell them what ads to run or when to run them or where to run them. That’s the law that we have to live by; we’re not allowed to coordinate with these entities. And if they make mistakes or say things that are wrong, I decry that. Don’t say things that are dishonest. But the idea of being upset about contrast and people pointing out the record of other people, that’s part of politics.

Romney then refused to say whether Gingrich was being “thin-skinned,” saying only that this is “obviously a tough time” for the former Speaker.

Romney will never be accountable to anybody for anything. That's something to think about before voting for him.

The truth always sounds angry to one who never tells it.

Just as the current leader of the free world would say, do as I say not as I do, this would the Romney standard if God forbid he gets in.

"Let’s get the record straight. First of all, there’s no question that I support 2nd Amendment rights, but I also support an assault weapon ban.
Look, I’ve been governor in a pretty tough state. You’ve heard of blue states. In the toughest of blue states, I made the toughest decisions and did what was right for America. I have conservative values. ”

I would call him a liar, too.

It was clear to me last night, seeing Romney copying answers from the others. Like he did with Newt's until towards the end of the debates; he agreed with Rick S. which was against Newt's plan of how to pay for the health plan/idea-by cutting government (Oh, my!) Guess, this is why they call him the empty suit candidate.

Newt Gingrich will win the SC primary. Then Santorum and Perry will endorse him and Willard’s ass is grass and Newt’s is the lawnmower. It all started started last night. Mr. uh, ah, ah, uh, ah, ah. Willard aint got much more sense than Obama. I think somewhere on that stage was a teleprompter and when he got off stript he sounded like a dunce. No way in the world the state of SC will go for this Yankee fake and fraud, aint gonna happen.

Newt is no more or less angry that the rest of conservatives that see America swirling 'round the drain hole, while the GOP and RNC try to hand us another "moderate" nominee that isn't that much better than the democrat offering.

Damn right he's angry, Mitt. So am I. I want to see Newt take it to Obama in the same non-politically-correct way he took it to the debate questioners last night.

You hit the ball outta the park on that one. Romney has reminded me of Bill Clinton ever since the first debate. The man has no core compass.

It only recently struck me but once it did the similarity was obvious. The glued-on smile, the weasel words, the ease with which they waffled, etc. However, Mitt seems to be far behind in the bimbo department.
