On the Sunday before the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett visited Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta to give a political speech, in support of her boss (Barack Obama) and congressional Democrats:
"Teachers, and firefighters, and policemen, whose jobs are now in jeopardy because Congress--well let me be specific--because the Republicans in Congress," Jarrett told the crowd. According to the CBS affiliate in Atlanta, at this point, "Before she could finish her sentence, people in the congregation were laughing, and applauding."
At the Sunday service, Jarrett also brought up Osama bin Laden's death in order to praise the president. "We all sleep a little better at night knowing Osama Bin Laden and his lieutenants are not plotting a terrorist attack against the United States," Jarrett said. Then she pivoted to Iraq: "I saw so many soldiers returning home from their last tour of duty in Iraq, in time for the Christmas holidays."
At the end of Sunday's sermon, after Jarrett had delivered her remarks to the congregation, the church held a voter registration drive.
Shouldn’t this activity put this church’s tax exempt status in jeopardy? Not that it will...currently.
I remember a church losing its tax exempt status because a pastor published an advertisement urging voters not to vote for Clinton. But that is the only time in history that I remember that law being enforced. I guess the Democrats finally figured out that the law was as bad or worse for them than for the GOP, so they decided not to enforce it.
Mark 11:17
And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.
Sunday, the Church is for worship, preaching, and praising the LORD. They have six other days of the week they can use their building for whatever extracurricular activities they have in mind...
It must not have been a Church ... just another den of thieves.
not telling you “how” to vote...but the result of you voting in the wrong direction would certainly bring eternal damnation....
Who can this tape be sent to? This should be investigating because if it was a white Irish Catholic church the angry black woman would definitely of taken action
Dems put the scare to churches before last election warning them not to say bad things about Obama. It is one of the many things that are different IF you are a Democrat.
investigating= investigated
It’s another one of those double standards. For Republicans, there must be a strict separation of church and state, which Democrats say is literally in the US Constitution. But the constitution says it doesn’t apply to Democrats, of course.
They don’t care if it’s ok or not. Conservatives should not care either, We should go for the throat, not letting up untill, well never
What does that mean?
You clearly don’t understand. Black racism is the goooood racism. Only white racism is bad.
She had a hollowed out Bible that held her autographed copy of the quotations of her hero Mao Zedung.
The only time the commie ‘RAT hos go to church is to campaign.
I assume this church will lose its tax exempt status?
since when have church pulpit's become Political platforms?
NO ONE seems to want to stop this bunch in the White House..sad world we have become.
I seem to recall once when the Second Baptist Church in Houston was threatened with loss of their tax-exempt status merely for printing and making available to its membership a sample ballot that did not advocate voting for any particular candidate. Al Gore spent more time in black churches than probably any prior candidate including Bill Clinton. The IRS and the Justice Dept. are definitely not applying the regulations uniformly.
I never cease to be amazed that black churches choose to support pro-abortion candidates (none more so than Obama) while the rate of abortion is highest among blacks. Makes no sense to me how a church of any kind can support abortion (murder) or candidates that espouse same.
“Reverend” Jim Jones’ People’s Temple was a politicized Black church that served as an organizing tool of the Democrat Party in San Francisco. “Reverend” Jeremiah Wright’s Trinity United serves exactly the same purpose in Chicago, and many other churches in the black community follow this pattern. They are not primarily houses of Christian worship anymore, just cogs in a political machine. Just from a practical standpoint, the Republican Party should do everything they can to render them ineffective. But they won’t because they’re terrified of being called racist.
