No, today IS MLK Day. The holiday now known unofficially as “Presidents Day” and officially GW’s Birthday, is celebrated on the third Monday of February. GW’s actual birthday was 2/22.
When I was a kid in school we got off for both Lincoln’s Birthday (2/12) and Washington’s Birthday (2/22). I believe Lincoln’s Birthday was forfeited as a federal holiday when they instituted MLK Day. Now, the only federal holidays NOT celebrated on a given Monday are Independence Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
MLK had a dream.We can dream too.
Our office was open today but we closed for Lee/Jackson Day.
I suppose the “Burlington Multicultural Resource Center” would be doubly opposed to that, handing out twelve “shames” instead of a measly six.

I am a clinical psychologist with a full schedule. All of my patients showed up today. (There’s usually 1-2 cancellations or no shows on Mondays). It was a very busy (and obviously very racist) day.

I read that “The Reverends” (Al and Jesse) picketed Sears the other day. Their beef was that all the washing machines were white. The salesman allowed as how that was true, but opening the door, he pointed out that the “agitators” were all black.
This MLK holiday thing is getting way way way way way out of hand.
We can’t even honor our presidents, but MLK is now essentially considered the father of our nation.
This weekend was treated as a major three day holiday on the networks.
I think MLK himself would consider this massive overkill.
