Scarborough says that in rejecting Huntsman, Republicans have “turned their back” on Reagan, who also had a “moderate temperament.” Guaranteed engine-starter ping to Today show list.
Works for me!
No Joe, we have only rejected Huntsman and your judgement along with him.
Reagan was warm and engaging at a personal level, not ‘moderate’ in temperament. In his love of liberty, Reagan was passionate and inflexible.
Listening to Huntsman in his debate with Newt Gingrich -did- show a collegial warmth and wittiness which was noteworthy. Thankfully the nomenklatura have backed Romney instead of Huntsman.
What Huntsman -said- however was nothing like the thought processes of Reagan. It was all about people as productive units. Math factors. What Lenin would call ‘masses’, and Reagan would have recognized as souls.
Reagan and Huntsman could both be defined as courteous and articulate, and there the resemblance ends.
Reagan was a brilliant and passionate freedom fighter.
Huntsman is a clever and diligent apparat.
